The Hosdurg police have arrested a 37-year-old man for sexually assaulting and killing a pregnant goat at Kanhangad two days ago.
Investigators said Senthil, a hotel employee hailing Pudukottai in Tamil Nadu, was arrested on Thursday. Two of his accomplices were at large. The arrest was based on a complaint by the hotel owner, they said.
The police said the other employees had woken up to the bleating of the goat on Tuesday night. They spotted Senthil in the shed and two others escaping from the scene.
The accused was charged under Section 177 (unnatural offences) and 428 ( mischief by killing or maiming animal) of the Indian Penal Code. The post-mortem examination report of the goat confirmed sexual assault. The accused was subjected to medical examination, the police said.
