Best way to speed up your hangover recovery after overdoing it on Christmas Day

No judgement either way, but are you feeling a little under the weather after boozing on Christmas day?

If the answer is a dry mouthed "yes" while your head thuds with pain, then don't worry, you're really not alone.

While it's a very, very different year, many revellers have still managed to get into the festive spirit.

Or just the spirits, depending on their mood.

If you've found yourself feeling hungover, fear not, the day is not lost.

But there are some KEY things to follow if you'd like to clear your head.

Firstly, don't reach for the aspirin to cure your woe - it's not going to cut it.

According to nutritionist Hannah Richards, that's one remedy to swerve.

Richards has revealed the one thing you should be going for instead.

Drinking grapefruit juice is the best way to speed up your hangover recovery - once you've popped an Ibuprofen.

The nutritionist recommends because it's doesn't limits the activity of the enzyme that breaks down the Ibuprofen.

This means it has more of a chance to acting quicker and healing you - meaning you will be fit for that family Zoom call this afternoon.

Although you might instinctively reach for them, aspirin can lead to stomach upsets while research suggests that drinking can hinder your liver's capacity to break down paracetamol.

And after a night swigging booze, most probably in your living room, a glass of grapefruit juice can really sort you out.

Meanwhile, the trusty NHS has some more good advice if you're still struggling.

They are careful to note - these aren't hangover *cures* but they might help with the discomfort you feel.

The NHS advises: "Dealing with a hangover involves rehydrating your body to help you deal with the painful symptoms.

"The best time to rehydrate is before going to sleep after a drinking session.

"Painkillers can help with headaches and muscle cramps.

"Sugary foods may help you feel less trembly. In some cases, an antacid may be needed to settle your stomach first.

"Bouillon soup (a thin, vegetable-based broth) is a good source of vitamins and minerals, which can top-up depleted resources. It's also easy for a fragile stomach to digest.

"You can replace lost fluids by drinking bland liquids that are gentle on your digestive system, such as water, soda water and isotonic drinks."

Godspeed and good luck.
