Best walks to do with your mum on a sunny Mother's Day

OK, so you've surprised your mum with flowers, chocolates and a card and possibly even those shoes she wanted – but how do you make Mother's Day even more memorable?

With the Spring weather so nice at the moment, a nice walk together is always a winner and of course, having a nice pub at the end for a drink or two also helps.

With that in mind, we've picked out some great Spring walks around the country to try out on March 27 (or to be honest any weekend).

From Loch Lomond to Loch Ness, here are some amazing strolls for a catch-up with your mum.

Millarochy Bay to Balmaha (ending at the Oak Tree Inn)

Oak Tree Inn at Balmaha (Visit Loch Lomond)

Though most people in this area will be heading up Conic Hill, a more leisurely stroll will be from Millarochy Bay to Balmaha, taking in the beautiful Loch Lomond Scenery and ending at the wonderful Oak Tree Inn.

Balmoral Cairns Circuit (ending at the Deeside Inn)

Visit the secret pyramid in the Highlands (yes really) with this walk around the famous Balmoral Estate before finishing off at the always welcoming Deeside Inn.

South Loch Ness Trail (ending at the Dores Inn)

Though you can always enjoy a spot of monster spotting, the real draw here is the spectacular views of one of Scotland's most stunning lochs – all topped off with a drink or a spot of lunch in the Dores Inn.

Arthur’s Seat (ending at the Sheep Heid Inn)

The more adventurous mums out there, might enjoy a trip up Arthur's Seat to enjoy some of the best views of the capital you'll find anywhere – and after all that hard work, a relaxing trip to the Sheep Heid Inn is on the cards.

The walk to Ratho via the Union Canal (ending at the Bridge Inn)

A lovely dander along the peaceful and idyllic canal towpath of the Union Canal is always fun and that's before you even reach the ever popular Bridge Inn where you can take a break and have a blether of some great grub.
