Vlad, Megabonk's vampire character, is great to play if you like high survivability. He may not have the raw damage that other heroes like Robinette have, but his Vampire passive, which grants him Lifesteal with every level, and Blood Magic's Max HP passive turn him into a massive tank.
Here's the best build to play Vlad in Megabonk today.
Best Megabonk Vlad Build
Type | Best | Good |
Weapons | Blood Magic (Starter) Dice Flamewalker Katana |
Aegis Tornado |
Tomes | XP Tome Damage Tome Quantity Tome Cursed Tome |
Luck Tome Shield Tome HP Tome |
Items | Moldy Cheese Gym Sauce Medkit Oats |
Backpack Slurp Gloves Bloody Cleaver |
Some of the best weapons for Vlad are Dice, Flamewalker, and Katana. All of them are projectile weapons that synergize with Blood Magic, and part of this build includes buffing Vlad's projectile count. Flamewalker can be replaced with Tornado, if you already have it unlocked, for more consistent damage.
Vlad really wants four strong weapons. I've tried a run with Aegis for defensive purposes. While it synergized perfectly with Vlad and increased his survivability a lot, he lacked damage to win the Stage Two boss fight before the timer ran out. If you use Aegis, just keep in mind that you might have to go for the Damage Tome and other damage-boosting upgrades more aggressively, or have a solid Stage One with XP Tomes to snowball early.
As for Vlad's best Tomes, I recommend XP, Damage, Quantity, and Cursed Tomes. Quantity is a must for Vlad's Blood Magic to do proper damage and activate the Max HP scaling often. Running without it can be a pain. The Damage Tome is also a good pick because Blood Magic damage early is low, so that extra boost is welcome. XP and Cursed Tomes form the great combo that allows you to snowball in Stages One and Two to have an easier time against their final bosses, since you'll get more experience points while seeing more monsters to farm experience from.
You can pick HP and Shield Tomes for extra survivability if you're not running Aegis. Don't pick the Lifesteal Tome because Vlad's passive already gives good enough Lifesteal. If you want to boost your healing further, go for the HP Regen Tome.
As for items that work well with Vlad, pick the likes of Moldy Cheese and Gym Sauce for extra damage and Medkit and Oats for more health points and healing. Backpack is always nice to find for extra projectiles, and the legendary Bloody Cleaver matches Vlad's life-stealing archetype.
In Shrines, prioritize Projectile Count and Movement Speed. If you don't have a Cursed Tome, pick Difficulty often to improve your scaling.
