It’s almost that time of year again. The biggest date in the shopping calendar: Black Friday is fast approaching.

For the unitiated, first and foremost, have you been living under a rock? The ultimate discount event takes place every year the day after the US’ Thanksgiving, over the course of a weekend.

While traditionally it may have only been from Black Friday, which takes place this year on November 25 till Cyber Monday on November 28, the sales event has extended and grown year after year to become a month-long sales extravaganza so hold you hat for the discounts that follow.

One of the most hotly anticipated items of the course of the reduction event is TVs. There is truly no better time to cash out of your old model and cash in on a brand new set that will take small screen viewing to the next level.

What is Black Friday?

Imported across the Atlantic Ocean from the USA, Black Friday is a sales event that takes place just once a year and falls the day after our American friends have celebrated Thanksgiving.

In time gone by, people used to queue up overnight outside brick and mortar establishments of the biggest retailers to get their hands on the mostly tech items that were slashed in price ahead of the Christmas season. Nowadays, the event sits mostly in the digital space so no there’s fighting necessary over the latest TVs, but it is worth acting fast on the discounts to avoid the model you had your eye on becoming out of stock before you had a chance to check out.

Cyber Monday closely follows Black Friday and was traditionally reserved for the best of the tech sales. This is no longer the case but some brands will offer further reductions on this day, while others prioritise Friday as the major discount day.
