'Best team in Europe!' - Arsenal fans impressed by Gunners' remarkable record

Arsenal will be looking to secure their spot in the last-32 of the UEFA Europa League with six Group B wins out of six when they face Irish outfit Dundalk at Oriel Park on Thursday evening.

The Gunners, who suffered a fifth Premier League defeat in their last seven outings on Sunday, going down 2-0 away from home to north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, will travel to Ireland having secured both a place in the last-32 and top spot in Group B.

Though, in truth, the outcome of the clash at Oriel Park will have no impact at all on the Gunners' Europa League progress, a win would mean that they would be the only side to have navigated both their way through the Europa League group stage this season with a 100 per cent winning record, with Mikel Arteta's team the only side to have won their first five group games.

Remarkably, should the Gunners defeat Dundalk, just as they did in the reverse fixture at the Emirates Stadium back in October, they would be the only side to have progressed to the knockout stages of both the Europa League and Champions League this season with six wins out of six.

Ahead of Tuesday evening's Champions League fixtures, Spanish giants Barcelona were the only side to have won all five of their group games, but saw their winning run come to an end at home to Juventus, who ran out comfortable 3-0 winners at the Camp Nou to finish top of Group G on the head-to-head record.

When you take into account that Arsenal have had a dismal start to the Premier League campaign, finding themselves in a disappointing 15th place, it is an impressive statistic.

Admittedly, the Gunners were drawn into a favourable looking group, consisting of Dundalk, Rapid Wien and Molde, but it still takes an impressive effort to string together five successive wins in competitive European football.

For instance, Manchester City were drawn into a favourable looking group in the Champions League, being joined in Group C by Porto, Olympiacos and Marseille, but, at the time of writing, City have won four of their opening five games, being held to a draw by Portuguese outfit Porto last week.

As you can imagine, this impressive statistic has attracted plenty of attention from Arsenal's supporters, who are amazed by the Gunners' impressive European record in comparison to other clubs competing in both the Champions League and Europa League.

Here, football.london has taken a close look on Twitter at what the Gunners' supporters have been saying...

Arsenal reached the last-32 of the Europa League last season but suffered a shock defeat to Greek outfit Olympiacos, losing the second-leg at the Emirates Stadium 2-1, meaning they went out of the competition on away goals after the tie ended 2-2.

In 2018/19, Arsenal, of course, reached the final of the competition, but were beaten 4-1 by London rivals Chelsea in Baku.
