Nine of the best takeaway coffee spots open in Glasgow just now

By this stage, we're a little sick of the instant stuff and badly missing that colleague who always nails the coffee run.

Thankfully, as many of our favourite food and drink venues across Glasgow adapt to 'the new normal', safely navigating the lockdown guidelines, we can still get the proper caffeine fix we've been craving - we feel we need it more than ever with all this working from home stuff.

So we've decided to share a list of some of our favourite coffee spots currently fuelling us throughout the city. Where have you been going for your takeaway coffee? Let us know in the comments.

Kaf

A perennial west end favourite, queues were lining up for expertly-brewed Kaf coffee even before lockdown.

Now operating as a bakery and coffee takeaway, locals can get their hands on some wonderful fresh bread and sweet treats too.

Currently open Wednesday 10-3 and Thursday - Sunday 10-4

It All Started Here

Tucked away among the tenements just off Shawlands' main drag, there's dozens of southsiders who can't complete their day without a trip to It All Started Here. Head there on the weekend if you fancy adding one of their now-famous cinnamon buns to your coffee order.

75 Deanston Drive, G41 3AQ

Currently open Tuesday - Sunday 10am to 4pm

Short Long Black

Given Short Long Black's success in recent times, Short Long Black can often feel like the highly-caffeinated beating heart of Victoria Road, as the lines outside attest to.

They're doing breakfast burritos now too and everyone's talking about them, sharing their snaps on Instagram, then heading back for second helpings.

501 Victoria Road, G42 8RL

Currently open Wednesday - Sunday 9am

Grain and Grind

Grain and Grind have three different shops across the south side, their main venue in Battlefield, where you can get glorious takeaway brunches (I personally recommend the English muffin with potato hash and sausage).

But in each Grain and Grind, including in Cathcart and Strathbungo, served up alongside flawless coffees are arguably some of the best baked goods in Glasgow - we're looking at you, salted caramel brownie.

Battlefield - 50 Battlefield Road, G42 9QF

Currently open Monday - Sunday - 10am - 4pm

Cathcart - 109 Clarkston Road, G44 3BL

Currently open Monday - Sunday - 10am - 4pm

Strathbungo - 742 Pollokshaws Road, G41 2AD

Currently open Monday - Sunday - 10am - 4pm

Meadow Road

One of Partick's best kept secrets, this cosy west end cafe serves up freshly ground Dear Green flat whites, lattes and cappucinos, as well as speciality teas and soft drinks.

Owner Billy and his friendly team also whip up incredible breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes, as well as homemade sweet treats, with loads of vegan and gluten-free options too.

579 Dumbarton Road, G11 6HY

Currently open Monday - Sunday - 10am - 2pm

William Cafe

Experts in all things breakfast, this family run cafe is all about the friendly vibe and good honest, solid coffee.

But if you're passing by in the near future you'll no doubt be tempted to treat yourself to one of their flavour-packed rolls as well - how does haggis, bacon, poached egg, cheese, tattie scone and sriracha sound?

Currently open Monday - Sunday - 10am - 3pm

Good Coffee Cartel

These speciality coffee roasters have built up quite a cult following in Kinning Park, with some suggesting they're serving up the best coffee in Glasgow.

The cakes and pastries regularly get rave reviews too.

Worth a wander south of the river.

East Coffee Company

Serving up fine coffees from Duke Street, East Coffee Company (Instagram- east_coffeecompany)

Fast becoming a Dennistoun institution, East's coffees smash it out the park every time, with brilliant baristas on hand to painstakingly pour you the perfect cup.

Hungry? Pick up a bagel too. They recommend their spicy mayo BLT - we wouldn't argue with them.

354 Duke Street, G31 1RB

Currently open Friday - Sunday - 10am - 2pm

Accento Cafe

(Accento/Facebook)

Finnieston foodies have been patiently waiting and, finally, those Big Franco prayers have been answered. Accento reopens this Friday and Saturday, offering quality coffee (available to walk ins) and panini, sweets and deli products which you have to order in advance.

6 Claremont Street, G3 7HA

Open Friday and Saturday, 10.30am - 2.30pm
