LUCKNOW: President Ram Nath Kovind conferred the best state award for water management and conservation to Uttar Pradesh at the third edition of National Water Awards (NWA) in New Delhi on Tuesday. Jal Shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh received the award for the state.
Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu got the second and third prize.
The awards were announced in January by Union Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for water management and conservation work done in the year 2020 by different states, districts, organizations, and individuals to help attain the government’s vision of ‘Jal Samriddh Bharat’. The award carries a citation, trophy, and cash prize.
