Playing solo in Mistfall Hunter is not an easy task, and there are plenty of aspects that you need to take care of to raise your chances of success. Unlike trios, you are all on your own when playing alone.
Of course, you will be meeting other players who are in the same boat as you. Getting a build for the solo mode is way trickier than it is for trios.
In this guide, I will go through a potential build that will help you raise your chances of success when playing on your own.

Mistfall Hunter Solo build overview
Before I deep dive into the build, it’s important to understand the finer aspects of playing solo. When we are playing in a team, your allies can cover your weaknesses. While there are six classes in the game, all of them have their own set of cons.
For example, a team of Seer, Sorcerer, and Withered Knight can work pretty well. You have one person either tanking or dealing physical damage, while the Sorcerer can operate from the range. The Seer in that team will play the role of a support and keep their allies alive.
When you are playing on your own, there are no such equations at play. You have to practically go in with a build and class that can do a bit of everything at the same time.
So far, I have tried all the classes for solo play. Seer is the worst choice you can make. Most players I have encountered in solo play either use the Mercenary or the Shadowstrix.
There are ranged options like the Sorcerer and Blackarrow as well, but I feel that you will be disadvantaged. You don’t necessarily need ranged when you are playing alone unless you have completely mastered your class.
Here’s my best guide if you are playing on your own.
Best Mistfall Hunter Solo build
In my first 12 hours (in full release) or so, I have mostly played on my own. The highest number of classes I have encountered is the Shadowstrix. The Shadowstrix is an excellent solo class because it offers everything you will need while playing alone:
- Stealth that allows you to escape tight situations
- Great damage that allows you to kill enemies
- The skill to dive in and out, which can lead to kiting
If you go up against ranged players like the Sorcerer and the Blackarrow, you can use your skills to jump in and get a few hits. That said, my favorite class for solo play has been the Withered Knight. Not only is it a perfect counter for the Shadowstrix (I will explain why), but it also offers a lot of balance and versatility that can be wonderful when you are playing on your own.
Why Withered Knight? For starters, a Withered Knight can switch between two different playstyles. You have the Greatsword, which is suitable for aggro playstyles. You also have your Polearm and Shield, which makes things a tad bit defensive. The Polearm can also be used as a ranged weapon with the Javelin Throw skill.
This versatility is extremely useful in different situations that you might encounter on your raid. As I mentioned, Shadowstrix seems to be the meta when it comes to solo play. If you are using the Parry skill with your Greatsword build, you can perfectly counter the Shadowstrix’s aggressive movement, and then branch your own attacks to create some incredible combos.
With the Withered Knight, you also don’t need to focus on too many hits. If you manage to land a couple of combos successfully, most classes will perish. The only class that might require more effort for you to get a kill will be the Mercenary if the opponent has gone for a tank build.
Typically, I love to go with the Greatsword route. For solo play, however, you will want to keep a balanced build. In simple terms, we won’t invest all our resources into either the Greatsword or the Polearm and Shield.
Instead, we will go with a hybrid build that allows you to get the most out of both weapons. I will then explain when you should use your build and how you should use it.
- Parry: Essential skill with your Greatsword because it forms your primary defense mechanism. You will want to lure an enemy into an attack so that you can start your combos without taking any damage.
- Radiant Retribution: Perform three quick swipes that can’t be blocked. Human enemies can escape your third strike by dodging. The AI minions won’t do that. It’s also a great way to start a combo because it inflicts Judgment when fully charged, and you also get super armor after the final strike.
With this build, you will have to move slots for each weapon. With the Polearm and Shield, here are the skills you will want to use.
- Spear Barrage: you can use your spear to thrust forward and knock down the enemy. This is great in both PvP and PvE situations.
- Javelin Thrust: Since you can use your spear as a javelin and gain some range, you will want to use this against classes like Sorcerer and Blackarrow. You can close in the distance and get within melee range, which really exposes their respective weaknesses.
Since this is a hybrid build, we will invest Talent points for both weapons. Most of your Talent Points are going to go to the Greatsword that I use significantly more.
- Crime: once you inflict Wither on an enemy, your heavy attacks will no longer consume energy. While the damage done per hit reduces, you can create an endless chain with this talent.
- Bad Karma: this talent allows you to generate negative buffs on the enemy with Wither. If you manage to execute and extend Wither duration, you will generate additional debuffs. These linked debuffs are critical, and allow me to explain why.
- Legacy: with this talent, you have a perfect chain with Crime and Bad Karma. With Crime, your heavy moves will no longer consume energy when you execute an enemy with Wither. With Bad Karma, you can create one or more linked debuffs on the enemy. With Legacy, you will now heal whenever you execute an enemy with Wither. The amount of heal you receive will depend on the number of linked debuffs you have created. Hence, Crime + Bad Karma + Legacy is an outstanding chain once you unlock all three talents.
Since we will also be using the Polearm to some extent, here is one Talent you should not miss out on.
- Endless Flow: with Endless Flow, you can continue your Spear Barrage for as long as you want, given you have the energy in store. This is a great talent when it comes to sustaining pressure on the opponent.
Here are some affixes to run with this build.
- Burst: Increases damage from execution.
- Aegis: Increases defense and provides physical resistance at certain levels.
- Tenacious: Higher maximum health and provides increased healing at certain level.
So, how do you use this build to get the better of your enemies? You begin with either Radiant Retribution if there are multiple enemies, or you can simply start with your three basic attacks. Our target is to inflict Wither on the enemies.
We will follow this up with a combo of the right mouse button and the left mouse button, or we can also perform a simple right mouse button and two left mouse button strike combos (Heavy Strike). Both combos will execute the Wither that you have afflicted. By then, you should also apply plenty of linked debuffs and recover energy and health.
We will only switch to Polearm and Shield if you are against a human enemy who is a Sorcerer or a Blackarrow. For other classes, you will want to activate your Parry stance. When the Shadowstrix, for example, jumps in, you can use your parry to negate the incoming attack, and then start branching your attacking moves to do more damage.
Overall, it’s a really fun, simple, and in some ways, boring build. It’s extremely effective, reduces your chances of death, and enhances your ability to get better loot on your runs if you are going in solo.
