Sunderland fans have reacted with delight as the club confirmed Aiden McGeady has agreed a new one-year deal.
The future of the Republic of Ireland international, along with Denver Hume, Luke O'Nien and Charlie Wyke, has been the subject of scrutiny for several weeks now.
McGeady remains a fans' favourite and became an ever present under Lee Johnson after being handed a first-team recall in December.

The 35-year-old winger would go on to repay that faith with 16 assists, and even waived a contract clause to feature in the playoff defeat to Lincoln City.
McGeady also supplied the assist for Lynden Gooch's winner against Tranmere Rovers in the Papa John's Trophy final at Wembley in March.
The former Celtic and Everton star is pleased with the club's 'ambition' and is keen to help the club achieve promotion and a return to the Championship at the fourth attempt.
Sunderland teased the news on Wednesday by posting a training gallery featuring McGeady, before subsequently announcing the new deal.
