It had already won the title of Best Pub in Northumberland and now St Mary's Inn has been declared Best Pub in the North East at the 2019 National Pub & Bar Awards.
The gastropub - a sister venture to Newcastle's Jesmond Dene House - is sited in the former St Mary's Hospital site at Stannington, near Morpeth, amid a large Bellway housing estate. It also offers bed and breakfast.
A spokeswoman for the Inn said: "St Mary’s Inn near Morpeth in Northumberland, is about warmth and generosity whether a guest comes to eat, drink or stay. A space that can be described as boasting friendly hospitality, flavoursome food and comfortable bedrooms.

St Mary’s Inn beat stiff competition to take the title as one of 94 pubs shortlisted for 15 regional awards. Other North East pubs shortlisted were The Box Social in Newcastle 's Forth Street railway arches and Durham's Kingslodge Inn at Flass Vale.
The Inn had a rocky start after opening and then closing due to the building work going on all around it. It reopened in August last year and hosts exhibitions, weddings and a "rustic" afternoon tea.
The winner of the national award is The Church Inn in Mobberley, Cheshire. The St Mary's Inn team collected their award at a glittering award ceremony hosted by restaurant critic Jay Rayner in Central London. The awards are organised by Pubandbar.com magazine.
