The Tennessee Titans (7-5) have struggled in recent history against the division rival Indianapolis Colts (6-6).
But the offense came alive and the team was able to pull ahead by a significant measure in the second half to secure a 31-17 victory on the road against a team they lost 19-17 to earlier this year.
Here’s a look at just some of the best plays from the game.
5. WR Adam Humphries’ first quarter touchdown.
The Colts may have struck first, but it didn’t take too long for the Titans to get right there on the scoreboard with them. Quarterback Ryan Tannehill connected with Humphries on this third-down pass with just over five minutes to go ahead of the second quarter to tie the game at 7-7.
4. RB Derrick Henry’s third quarter score.
This was arguably Henry’s best drive of the game, and he capped it off by drawing the Titans within just four points of the lead after the extra point attempt with just under six minutes remaining in the third quarter.
3. S Kevin Byard’s interception.
Byard is one of the league’s best defensive players, and he showed that on this play when he picked off Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett. It also showed the Titans can play complementary football, placing the Titans’ offense back on the field right after Henry’s touchdown rush.
2. CB Tye Smith scores touchdown on blocked field goal.
The momentum was steadily shifting into the Titans’ favor at this point, and this play marked the official swing. Safety Dane Cruikshank blocked Adam Vinatieri’s field goal attempt, and Smith took it to the house.
1. WR Kalif Raymond puts it on ice.
Raymond impressed ahead of the season, and brought the Titans to a two-score lead with 3:13 left on the game clock. The defense finished the job, and the Titans pulled off the 31-17 victory in Lucas Oil Stadium.
