The Tennessee Titans (8-6) looked to extend their winning streak to five games as they faced the visiting Houston Texans (9-5) on Sunday, but instead recorded a 24-21 loss.
There were some missed opportunities for the Titans, but also some big plays that kept the game as close as it was.
Here’s a look at just a handful of those.
5. TE Jonnu Smith’s 57-yard carry.
Smith can do it all at this point. It’s not every day that you see a tight end carry the ball, but Smith made a huge play for the offense on this rushing play to put the Titans deep in Texans territory.
4. QB Ryan Tannehill’s touchdown rush.
Tannehill has revolutionized a Titans offense that was once stagnant, and made several good throws on Sunday. But if he doesn’t like how things are looking on the pass, he’ll do it himself.
That certainly worked out for him on this play, when the Titans put their first points of the day on the board.
3. WR A.J. Brown’s 60-yard reception.
The Titans couldn’t ask for a better rookie debut from their No. 51 overall pick. Brown has cemented his status as the team’s No. 1 wideout, and has recorded some big-time receptions this year — particularly within the last couple of games.
2. S Kenny Vaccaro’s end-zone interception.
The Texans have started slow all season, but looked score on their opening drive. Vaccaro denied quarterback Deshaun Watson and co. that opportunity with a takeaway that put quarterback Ryan Tannehill and the offense back on the field.
1. LB Jayon Brown’s end-zone takeaway.
The Titans defense prevented two particularly big plays from the Texans’ offense on Sunday, and one of those came on an end-zone interception by Brown.
This was pivotal for the Titans, preventing the Texans from extending their lead and allowing their offense a chance to tie up the game.
