'Best player in the world' - Tottenham fans make claim after dominant first half vs Newcastle

Tottenham Hotspur's return to action after the international break was a highly-anticipated one.

The Lilywhites endured a torrid September, losing all three of their Premier League fixtures, falling to a 3-0 defeat against Crystal Palace and Chelsea before local rivals Arsenal blew them away in the first half of the North London Derby as Mikel Arteta's side clinched a 3-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium.

However, Spurs bounced back against Aston Villa earlier this month, securing a 2-1 win before international football offered a two-week hiatus from club football.

Now, the north Londoners travelled to face Newcastle United at St James' Park, with the Tyneside-based club playing their first match since Mike Ashley decided to sell the club to Amanda Staveley's Saudi-led consortium.

The Magpies took an early lead as Callum Wilson broke the deadlock in the second minute before Tanguy Ndombele equalised for Spurs, delivering an impressive curled finish past Karl Darlow in the Newcastle goal.

Spurs centre-forward Harry Kane then fired Nuno Espirito Santo's side in front, the 28-year-old's first Premier League goal of the season before South Korean international Son Heung-Min scored a third just before halftime.

Tottenham fans took to social media to laud the trio. Here is how a select few reacted on Twitter to the goals.

@lnvertedWinger: "TONGEE (sic) NDOMBELE IS BETTER THAN PAUL POGBA. MAGIC MAN."

@AdamBrennan42: "Tanguy Ndombele is the best player in the world."

@DanhTHFC: "Beautiful beautiful Son."

@JordanWeyenberg: "Kane to Son making me feel things."
