Best places in Dublin for a viewpoint of the summer sunrise

They say the best things in life are free.

Well that couldn't be more true when it comes to sunrises. Some of the most rewarding natural experiences can come from just taking in the sunrise.

Ok, there is a bit of a price, setting an alarm for just after 4:00am in the summer can be a horrendous feeling, but fully worth it in this case.

By now, you've probably seen one million pink and golden sunsets on your Instagram accounts. Why not be one of the few to check out sunrises?

We're not alone! A list of other places around the world named after Dublin city and towns

You can do it from any of these lovely locations:

Howth Head

Watching the sun rise over the ocean from this view is extremely rewarding.

You can catch it from many locations in Howth, but a few of the best locations are: Howth Pier, the peak of Shielmartin, Deer Park, or Burrow Beach, among others.

Samuel Beckett Bridge

When it comes to sunrises on bridges in town, many people will relate to that feeling of trying to hail a taxi home in the early hours of a summer morning after a night out.

This can often distract from the beauty of seeing the sun rise above our beautiful capital.

If you're lucky enough to work in the city centre, you might travel in early to do this - thought you may be waiting around for a while after.

Sandymount

Safe to say everyone knows that this is one of the best places to be in Dublin to watch the sunrise.

To be fair, you'd struggle to find a better area in general, and a seat by the sea to take it all in could be just what the doctor ordered.

Portmarnock beach

Ireland's Eye as seen from Portmarnock beach (Aengus O'Hanlon)

Wow.

Sweeping views of the Atlantic will leave you breathless on any given day, but at sunrise, the beauty is notched up that little bit more.

You can grab a comfy seat on the grass above the beach or on the sand and take it all in.

Hellfire Club

A rough trek to get to in time for a sunrise but 100% worth your while.

This spot offers sweeping views of the whole city and surrounding areas.

You can only imagine what the view would look like with the sun rising above.

The average house price in Dublin is €383,000 - here's what that gets you in 11 different areas

Killiney Hill

Not much needs to be said about this place that already hasn't been said.

More panoramic views of the city and South Dublin are available from here, and you can also check out gaff belonging to such stars as Enya and Bono.

Don't take our word for it though, and there are plenty of more places to check out the sunrise in the capital as well.
