'Best pint in Motherwell by far' New reviews of pub with 'Scotland's worst beer garden' show it is loved by many

Pub goers have issued rave reviews for a Motherwell boozer after online trolls claimed it had ‘Scotland’s worst beer garden’.

The Brass Button went viral after a picture of their make-shift outdoor seating area behind the pub went was shared on social media yesterday.

Dozens of furious locals have jumped to their defence and have branded it the “best wee pub in the shire” who are said to do delicious cocktails.

One drinker said: “Best pint in Motherwell by far hands down you can keep your posh establishments canny beat a pub with culture and the brass button gives you that and great pints.

“It’s the hub of north Motherwell.”

Another added: “Nobody leaves the button remembering the decor. Best wee pub in the shire.”

A third wrote: “A pub with wonderful owners and friendly staff doing what they can during hard times to give their regulars a place to go.

“Best drinks around. We travel from Carluke to collect pints and cocktails because they are that good.

“People should jump off their high horse and think would you not do anything you could to get your business open asap and give the locals who have been lonely for weeks a place to go for a pint and a smile.”

Another added: “I’d rather have an amazing drink and service from someone who cares than sit in a swanky overcrowded beer garden any day!

“They have cleared up an area outside and done what they can to get by for a couple of weeks til opening properly, no1 has ever claimed it to be a beautiful beer garden.

“It's somewhere for the locals to go to get a bit of company and a drink after weeks of isolation.

“What's missing in decor is made up for in caring owners and staff and the best pints and cocktails you could ask for. Show some support for your local family owned businesses.”

Another regular said The Brass Button was a “great pub ran by great people” and that they were excited to go back for a night out.

Outdoor drinking areas were finally reopened on Monday after more than 100 days of lockdown.

Thirsty Scots flooded to their nearest boozer to take advantage of the restrictions relaxing with the day hailed a ‘ resounding success ’ by local publicans.

Pubs and restaurants are not expected to fully reopen until July 15 at the earliest.
