Best photos from new Naomi Campbell XL coffee table book

Taschen this week announced the release of a supersized version of ‘Naomi,’ the 400 page edition exploring the incredible career of supermodel Naomi Campbell.

Originally published in a limited ‘collector’s edition’ of 1000 signed copies, Naomi is now available for the first time as a supersized coffee-table book in an unlimited edition.

Supermodel, entrepreneur, activist, provocateur, Naomi Campbell is one of the most enduring and influential figures in fashion.

The first black model to grace the cover of French Vogue and TIME magazine, she has been the face of hundreds of magazine covers, countless editorials and advertising campaigns, and a favourite subject for some of the best photographers of the ’80s, ’90s, and today.

Arriving in two volumes– the larger filled with editorial and campaign imagery from throughout Campbell’s career, the smaller a companion book filled with reference information and an interview recalling her life and work with Ajesh Patalay – the portfolio features images of the London-born supermodel photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, Richard Avedon, Anton Corbijn, Steven Meisel, Helmut Newton, Herb Ritts, Paolo Roversi, Ellen von Unwerth, and Bruce Weber, and includes such unforgettable shoots as Peter Lindbergh’s sequence of Naomi dancing as Josephine Baker on the beach for Italian Vogue and Jean-Paul Goude’s composition of the model racing against a cheetah for U.S. Harper’s Bazaar.

Alongside the stunning imagery are texts written by Naomi in which she recalls her childhood; the beginning of her modeling career; working with fashion’s greatest designers, including Azzedine Alaïa, John Galliano, Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld and Gianni Versace, alongside magazine covers, ads and video stills.

Naomi fans will not be disappointed.
