'Best Papa' Prince William celebrates 44th birthday as Royal Family mark Father's Day

Prince William has appeared in a never-before-seen photograph as he marks his 44th birthday and Father’s Day.

The Royal Family shared a photo of the prince with his daughter Princess Charlotte, 11, during the Trooping of the Colour celebration.

In the picture, which was taken in the gardens of Kensington Palace, William appears in his Irish Guards uniform with his arm around Charlotte who is wearing a white formal dress.

The photo is captioned: “Happy birthday and Father’s Day to the best Papa in the World! We love you very much. C, G, C & L.”

Also marking Father’s Day, a picture of the King and his father the late Prince Philip was posted on the royal family Instagram account.

“Celebrating all Fathers, and thinking of those who wish they could be with their Dads, today,” the caption read.

The picture showed the then-Prince Charles with his father in Lincolnshire upon the completion of his RAF training in 1971.

During his birthday week, Prince William was joined by his wife at Royal Ascot for the first time since 2023.

Catherine had been absent from the horse racing event since being diagnosed with cancer in early 2024.

The Princess of Wales publicly announced she was in remission from cancer in January 2025 after undergoing successful chemotherapy treatment.

On Wednesday, the Prince and Princess of Wales took part in the traditional carriage ride, enjoyed the races from the royal box and even shared a joke with former England manager Sir Gareth Southgate before the World Cup match against Croatia.

The couple were also part of Monday’s Garter Day celebrations at Windsor Castle.

But it appears to be a quieter birthday for the prince than in 2024, when he took Prince George and Princess Charlotte to see Taylor Swift at Wembley stadium.
