Best pancakes in Glasgow for you to tuck into as city celebrates Shrove Tuesday

Flipping heck, it's already that time year again.

Today is Shrove Tuesday, the one day of the year when eating your body weight in pancakes is entirely acceptable.

And who doesn't love a pancake? Delicious and doughy, nothing beats a golden stack of carbs drizzled with syrup and topped with strawberries and whipped cream. Or perhaps you're a purist and look for a simple lemon and sugar crepe?

Whatever your preference, it's impossible to feel flat after an all-day pancake feast.

As with all things fun and indulgent, Glasgow is blessed with lots of wonderful eateries offering up stacks of pancakes to satisfy even the sweetest of teeth.

Whether you're heading out today or you're saving your cheat day for later in the week, here's our pick of where to fulfil all your pancake desires, from savoury eats to sugary sweet treats.

Fill yer boots, Glasgow ...

The Black Forest soufflé pancakes at Koko House (Glasgow Live)

Koko House

Located on Great George Street a stone's throw from Byres Road in the west end of the city, Koko House has had folk lining up to try the fluffy treats all year round.

We recommend you opt for the Black Forest soufflé pancakes - the satisfying, sweet and savoury flavours combine to make the ultimate Shrove Tuesday treat.

KCal Kitchen

Even Glasgow's 'healthy eating' restaurant is getting in on the fun. Why not try a fat stack, smothered in peanut butter and Nutella? If Kcal Kitchen tells you it is healthy to eat pancakes stacked high, then who are we to argue?

Waffles and pancakes are available for brunch at TriBeCa (TriBeCa)

Tribeca

This American-style diner is something of a Glasgow institution and pancake Titan. The menu is full of carbs of all shapes and sizes, with a variety of delicious toppings.

And you can wash it all down with a delicious milkshake - what's not to love? With two Tribeca restaurants in Glasgow, there's plenty to choose from for your Shrove Tuesday munch.

Nic's NYC Deli & Donuts

Famous for more than just doughnuts, Nic's also deals in top quality crepes. There’s a full pancake menu, taking you from traditional maple syrup to exotic treats like marshmallow, Hershey’s chocolate and peanut butter and jelly - the pancake combo you didn’t know you needed. Yes please.

The Brunch Club

Pancake only comes around once a year - so why not go all out? Head to this Yorkhill gem for the sweetest of all breakfasts, topped with good old bacon and maple syrup, or maybe chocolate ganache, peanut and almond butter.

Fancy something more savoury? We won’t say a word if you swap your pancakes out for chicken and waffle - that’s like a pancake, right? Either way, this is a goer for all your Pancake Tuesday needs.

Stack & Still

The city's biggest pancake house offers up 12 million different menu combinations - and at multiple locations across Glasgow you are truly spoilt for choice.

Having taken West George Street by storm back in 2018, branches at Silverburn and Glasgow Fort have followed, offering pancake fiends the chance to build their own combo from savoury or sweet options.

Pulled pork pancakes? How many do you fancy? Peanut butter cream and Nutella? Don't forget to add a bit of banana. If you only the best will do then you've come to the right place

Cafe Strange Brew

Cafe Strange Brew in Shawlands prides itself on outstanding brunches - and the team should be shouting from the rooftops, with all the awards they've won (Glasgow Live accolades included).

The proof is in the pudding, as you're lucky to get a seat in the popular cafe these days - but if you do then it's only right you try the pancakes.

They sell a delicious range, including savoury ones with fried chicken, egg and maple syrup. Keep your eye out for the mouthwatering, new creations which pop up every now and then on the specials board.
