Building an efficient base in Palworld 1.0 starts with assigning the right Pal to each job. The best Pals for every Work Suitability combine high proficiency levels with useful secondary skills, letting them complete tasks faster and keep your production running smoothly.
From Mining to Handiwork, Farming, Transporting, and other pal jobs, here are the best Pals for each job in Palworld 1.0 and why they’re worth adding to your base.
Quick Summary
- Assigning the right Pal to each Work Suitability greatly improves your base’s efficiency and resource production.
- High-level Work Suitability Pals complete tasks faster than lower-level alternatives.
- Some Pals can handle multiple jobs, while specialized Pals are better for dedicated production lines.
- The best Pals for each job vary by Work Suitability, including Mining, Handiwork, Planting, Transporting, Lumbering, and more.
How to tell if a Pal is a good worker in Palworld
I remember catching my first Penking and thinking, “This must be one of the best base Pals in the game. This guy does everything!” A few hours later, I had five Penkings wandering around my base, constantly switching between tasks and barely finishing any of them.
That’s the downside of Pals with too many Work Suitabilities. They can get pulled from one job to another before completing either, especially if multiple tasks are available.
That doesn’t mean multi-purpose Pals are bad. It all comes down to which Work Suitabilities they have and what you need them to do. Jobs like Mining and Lumbering are always in demand, so Pals with those traits tend to prioritize them. Meanwhile, tasks such as Electricity Generating or Medicine Production only become available when specific structures need attention in the late game.
For example, a Pal with Lumbering, Medicine Production, Farming, and Kindling isn’t a poor worker, but it’ll usually spend most of its time switching between whatever is required. If your goal is only to keep furnaces running, you’re better off choosing a Kindling Pal without Lumbering or Mining. Keep that in mind as you build your workforce. Here are the best Pals for every job in Palworld 1.0.
Best Pals for Kindling
One of the hardest things about finding good Kindling Pals is that many of them also have other job proficiencies, which means you’ll often return to your base to find your fire pal doing something else in your base instead of preparing food or crafting the precious ingots.
Here are our picks for the best Pals that combine high Kindling levels with fewer distractions:
| Pal | Kindling level | Other jobs |
|---|---|---|
| Jormuntide Ignis | Seven | N/A |
| Flaracle | Seven | Handiwork, Transporting |
| Dupin | Seven | Medicine Production, Handiwork, Transporting |
| Blazamut/Blazamut Ryu | Six | Mining |
| Faleris | Six | Transporting |
Best Pals for Watering
Watering is an easy enough job to keep under lockdown, as tons of different Pals are fantastic at it and also don’t have any other job suitability to bog them down. The only thing you need to watch out for here is how larger Pals love getting stuck on anything and everything; try to place your crops and Crusher with that phenomenon in mind.
| Pal | Watering level | Other jobs |
|---|---|---|
| Shaolong | Eight | Gathering |
| Jormuntide | Seven | N/A |
| Neptilius | Seven | N/A |
| Faleris Aqua | Six | Transporting |
| Suzaku Aqua | Six | N/A |
Best Pals for Planting
Planting is an easy job to keep consistently manned because Lyleen and Broncherry both don’t have any “permanent” jobs like Lumbering or Mining, meaning even if they do get distracted, it’s for a finite amount of time to make Medicine or do Handiwork.
Another thing to keep in mind is that Planting takes a short amount of time and leaves room for lots of other tasks while crops are growing, so in this case, it’s usually better to assign a Pal that does other things as well.
| Pal | Planting level | Other jobs |
|---|---|---|
| Dandilord | Eight | Handiwork, Gathering, Transporting, Medicine Production |
| Ophydia | Seven | Watering |
| Lyleen | Seven | Handiwork, Gathering, Medicine Production |
| Carnibora | Six | Handiwork, Gathering, Transporting |
| Mycora | Six | Handiwork, Gathering, Medicine Production |
Best Pals for Generating Electricity
Generating Electricity is one of the few jobs I’ve found that Pals actually stay assigned to. Throw a Pal on a eletricity generation duty, and they’ll do anything else when you turn your back. Throw a Pal on a Generator, and they’ll probably stay put. This means you don’t have to be as careful about Electric Pals with other job suitabilities, as they don’t get distracted.
| Pal | Generating Electricity level | Other jobs |
|---|---|---|
| Orserk | Eight | Handiwork, Transporting |
| Dynamoff | Six | Gathering, Transporting |
| Fenglope Lux | Five | Lumbering |
| Azurmane | Five | N/A |
| Grizzbolt | Two | Handiwork, Lumbering, Transporting |
Best Pals for Handiwork
Handiwork is unique because it isn’t ever passively in demand. The only time a Handiwork job needs doing is when you’ve specifically ordered it. So, Anubis was your guy, and now there’s a better pal for Handiwork as well with the new update. Most of these pals are dark type, so they can meticulously work even in the night to give you that edge.
| Pal | Handiwork level | Other jobs |
|---|---|---|
| Solenne | Eight | Gathering, Transporting |
| Selyne | Seven | Medicine Production, Transporting |
| Anubis | Six | Mining, Transporting |
| Sekhmet | Six | Mining, Transporting |
| Splatterina | Six | Lumbering, Medicine Production, Transporting |
Best Pals for Gathering
Gathering is similar to Planting in that it only requires small bursts of work with long periods of downtime in between tasks. Unless your base has tons of crops, you probably don’t need to keep a Jetragon sitting around. Instead, I use Venusa, who completes any Gathering or Handiwork job quickly when it comes up and doesn’t sit around idle the rest of the time.
| Pal | Gathering level | Other jobs |
|---|---|---|
| Jetragon | Eight | N/A |
| Hartalis | Seven | Lumbering |
| Frostallion Noct | Seven | N/A |
| Venusa | Six | Handiwork, Medicine Production, Transporting |
| Lyleen | Five | Planting |
Best Pals for Lumbering
Lumbering is a weird one. On the one hand, it’s one of the single most important jobs in Palworld. On the other hand, the fact that a Lumbering Farm never runs out of work that can be done right here and right now means Pals love leaving their important jobs to spend an eternity gathering Wood, even though you already have 10,000.
Tons of Pals are equipped with Lumbering, and in my experience, the job gets done whether you like it or not. These Pals are the most efficient choices.
| Pal | Lumbering level | Other jobs |
|---|---|---|
| Hartalis | Seven | Gathering |
| Celesdir | Seven | Gathering |
| Cryolinx Terra | Six | Handiwork, Transporting, Mining |
| Silvegis | Six | N/A |
| Bastigor | Six | Cooling, Mining |
Best Pals for Mining
Mining is, without a doubt, the most important skill in Palworld. Setting up a proper ore farm requires finesse, planning, and Pals with great Mining scores. Thankfully, it’s easy enough to design a second base that doesn’t have anything to distract your peak Miners from their work. Most of the top mini pals don’t have distracting
| Pal | Mining level | Other jobs |
|---|---|---|
| Aegidron | Eight | N/A |
| Blazemut Ryu | Seven | Kindling |
| Blazemut | Seven | Kindling |
| Astegon | Seven | Handiwork |
| Knocklem | Seven | Transporting, Gathering |
Best Pals for Medicine Production
Medicine Production is exactly like Handiwork in that there’s never a passive demand for it. Medicine is only made when you order it specifically, so work around that fact. Don’t leave any pals in your base unless you actively need Medicine to be made, and don’t be afraid to have Medicine Production Pals that also contribute elsewhere. When you need Medicine, hard-assign them to a Workbench.
| Pal | Medicine Production level | Other jobs |
|---|---|---|
| Silvance | Eight | Planting, Handiwork, Gathering, Transporting |
| Lyleen Noct | Seven | Handiwork, Gathering |
| Bellanoir Libero | Seven | Handiwork, Transporting |
| Mycora | Six | Planting, Handiwork, Gathering |
| Selyne | Six | Handiwork, Transporting |
Best Pals for Cooling
Whether you want to expand your food’s shelf life or just use the advanced crusher, cooling pals are very important to keep in your base. Here are some of the best ones:
| Pal | Cooling level | Other jobs |
|---|---|---|
| Bastigor | Eight | Lumbering, Mining |
| Frostallion | Seven | N/A |
| Whalaska | Six | Watering |
| Whalaska Ignis | Six | Handiwork, Lumbering |
| Icelyn | Five | Handiwork, Transporting, Medicine Production |
Best Pals for Transporting
Unless you’re setting up an ore farm, Transporting can be something of a lower-priority task. In an ore farm, strong gatherers are necessary to allow more ore to spawn. In a regular base, transporting is more about keeping your farm from becoming an absolute mess. Still, if you can afford a slot for a designated transporter, it keeps everything running at peak efficiency. Here are some of the best transporting pals:
| Pal | Transporting level | Other jobs |
|---|---|---|
| Knocklem | Seven | Mining, Gathering |
| Wumpo | Six | Handiwork, Lumbering, Cooling |
| Wumpo Botan | Six | Planting, Handiwork, Lumbering |
| Dualith | Six | Planting, Lumbering, Mining, Gathering |
| Dualith Noct | Six | Planting, Lumbering, Mining, Gathering |
Best Pals for Farming
It’s difficult to say what the best Farming Pals are, as the only caveat for Farming is what resource you’re after. Instead, I’ve listed Pals here based on which resources I think are the most important: the ones needed to make Cake, and then Gold (because who doesn’t love passive income).
Don’t be afraid to swap Pals in and out of your Farm if you’re low on Wool, High Quality Cloth, Flame Organs, etc. In fact, it is probably best to always be swapping Pals in and out depending on how your reserves are looking.
| Pal | Farming level | Resource |
|---|---|---|
| Dumud Gild | Four | High Quality Pal Oil and Gold |
| Beegarde | Three | Honey |
| Mozzarina | Three | Milk |
| Chikipi | Three | Egg |
| Mau Cryst | Three | Gold |
FAQ
Can one Pal handle multiple jobs efficiently?
Yes. Many high-tier Pals have multiple Work Suitability traits, allowing them to perform several jobs around your base. However, if a Pal has too many work types, it may prioritize a different task than the one you want. Manually assigning it can help keep production efficient.
Does a higher Work Suitability level make a difference?
Yes. A higher Work Suitability level lets a Pal complete tasks faster than one with a lower level. For example, a Pal with Mining Lv. 4 gathers ore much more quickly than a Pal with Mining Lv. 2, making it a better long-term choice for your base.
Can Alpha Pals work at your base?
Yes. Alpha Pals can perform the same base jobs as their regular pals if they have the required Work Suitability. The main difference is that they are much larger, so they may have trouble navigating compact base layouts.
Should you use specialized Pals or multi-purpose Pals?
It depends on your base. Specialized Pals with a high level in one Work Suitability are generally better for maximizing production, while multi-purpose Pals are more useful in smaller bases where flexibility is more important than efficiency. You can always get multi-purpose Pals, which have natural synergy in your base with other tasks to make them more efficient as well.
