Best paid jobs of 2020 unveiled - what to do to make the most money

The best-paid jobs of the year have been unveiled, with healthcare professionals dominating the list.

Nine of the top 20 professions for annual wages are to do with healthcare, with orthodontists paid the most at £99,010 a year according to figures from Indeed, the world's biggest jobs site.

Indeed UK managing director Bill Richards said: “What is striking is just how much the medical profession dominates our top 20 best-paying roles.

"Such high salaries suggest that the supply of qualified candidates isn’t keeping up with demand, leading employers to pay more in order to win the battle for talent.

“With many specialist healthcare employees working long hours under intense pressure, and potentially making life-or-death decisions in the process, such high salaries may be seen as a just reward for their hard work and expertise.”

But the best paid career of all was found to be chief financial officer, with winning candidates taking home £112,666 a year on average.

Indeed looked at thousands of full-time roles to work out the best paying careers and found many of the highest-paid vacancies require both a specialism and experience.

“Gaining advanced skills and experience has long been a powerful way to boost your earning power - and this snapshot of the best-paying vacancies currently being advertised on Indeed shows it holds as true as ever," Richards said.
