Best of the Irish Jerusalema Challenge videos as dance trend takes over the nation

From cocooning grandmothers to prancing ponies, this compilation puts together some of the best Jerusalema dance videos sent in by Irish Mirror readers.

The videos flooded in after dancing nan May Kenna, 89, from Moneystown, Co Wicklow, was posted on the Irish Daily Mirror Facebook page.

The groovy gran was viewed over 444,000 times and people flooded our messages with similar heartwarming scenes from homes across the country.

In the video above, the McCarthy clan from Co Kerry, 89-year-old Alice O'Callaghan from Togher, Co Cork, members of St Patrick's Rowing Club in Ringsend, Co Dublin, and many more move and shake to Master KG's 'Jerusalema' and bring a smile to many faces in doing so.

Gardai took on the challenge in January and, after a few weeks preparation, revealed their final production with members from across the country getting involved.

The video has now been viewed millions of times all over the world with Gardai showcases some of the more scenic parts of the country and even fitting in some Irish dancing.

They challenged the public to get involved and share their videos using the hashtag JerusalemaChallenge and kicked off a trend that has taken over the country.

They said: "Gardaí across Ireland answered the call to give the public we serve a lift in these challenging times.

"Now that An Garda Síochána stepped up to the challenge, the public now have the floor.

"So making sure to stay home and in your bubbles. Post your challenge using #GardaJerusalema we want to see what you can do while staying safe."
