Best of The Best: Who Will Represent England in The Next Champions League Season

Best of the best who will represent England in the next Champions League season

In the spring, EPL teams only lost to PSG who were on their way to triumph in Europe’s main club tournament, but the next Champions League season will feature 6 English teams - a historic achievement!

How did this happen? The fifth spot was awarded to the EPL as the best association in the UEFA rankings, and the sixth spot was given to Tottenham, Europa League winners, who beat Man Utd in the final.

Let’s take a look at the current situation in the best English clubs and check out the odds for the 2025-26 EPL and UCL in the MelBet football section!

Liverpool

  • League position: 1
  • Head coach: Arne Slot
  • Team leaders: Salah, Van Dijk, Mac Allister
  • Discovery of the season: Gravenberch

In Slot’s first season, Liverpool secured the championship 4 rounds before the finish! The Reds have extended the contracts of team leaders Salah, Alisson and Van Dijk. Slot realizes it’s even more difficult to stay at the top of the EPL than it is to get there. The management are thinking about the future: Frimpong has been signed, and the club is trying to buy Wirtz and Kerkez. The Merseysiders intend not only to defend the EPL title but also to improve on last season’s UCL result.

Arsenal

  • League position: 2
  • Head coach: Mikel Arteta
  • Team leaders: Saka, Ødegaard, Saliba
  • Discovery of the season: Nwaneri

2nd place in the EPL for the third time in a row and the first UCL semi-finals in 19 years didn’t make Arsenal fans happy. The Gunners, renowned for their solid defense, are looking to improve their results in both tournaments. The team suffered from a spate of injuries but also had an obvious weakness - the absence of an effective striker. Addressing this problem will be a priority in the off-season. Arsenal are targeting Gyökeres and believe the Swede can become a goal-scoring machine like Henry or Van Persie.

Manchester City

  • League position: 3
  • Head coach: Pep Guardiola
  • Team leaders: Haaland, Rodri, Dias
  • Discovery of the season: O’Reilly

Man City had their worst Premier League season since 2017 and didn’t even make it to the UCL round of 16. The team’s rebuilding started back in January with the signings of Marmoush, Nico González, Vitor Reis, and Khusanov. Man City will keep looking for promising players this summer. Guardiola has a lot of work to do, but Rodri’s return after a serious injury could speed up the process of bringing the Citizens back to the top of the EPL and the Champions League.

Chelsea

  • League position: 4
  • Head coach: Enzo Maresca
  • Team leaders: Palmer, Caicedo, Fernández
  • Discovery of the season: Colwill

Chelsea finished in the EPL top 4 for the first time in 3 years and won the Conference League. There’s less mockery of the club’s transfer policy, but the Blues keep buying young talented players with 22-year-old newcomer Liam Delap looking almost like a veteran. Chelsea has great prospects, but the team is unlikely to become a contender for the EPL or UCL titles next season.

Newcastle United

  • League position: 5
  • Head coach: Eddie Howe
  • Team leaders: Isak, Tonali, Guimarães
  • Discovery of the season: Hall

The Magpies qualified for the UCL for the second time in three seasons and won the EFL Cup, the club’s first trophy since 1969. Eddie Howe is proving that English coaches do have something to offer. But strengthening the squad in such a competitive environment will be even more difficult for Newcastle than retaining their key players.

Tottenham Hotspur

  • League position: 17
  • Head coach: Thomas Frank
  • Team leaders: Son Heung-min, Porro, Romero
  • Discovery of the season: Bergvall

A spot in the UCL increases Spurs’ appeal to potential newcomers and gives the club hope. Strengthening the squad is necessary: 17th place in the EPL is a much better reflection of Tottenham’s level than their Europa League triumph. But the team has proven they are capable of playing pragmatic football, and the new coach can make their play more diverse.
