Following its successful refurb, St Pancras station is celebrating its 140th anniversary. The Press Association was born in the same year. Hence, the station is hosting an exhibition of PA photos called Best of British. The BBC reports:
Ordinary life, in the form of holiday-makers enjoying the sun on Bournemouth beach in 1946, a woman selling apples from a basket in 1923, and a family having a picnic on the side of the road after their car broke down, have also been captured. British history is documented with Churchill addressing an audience in 1945, VE Day celebrations in the street, and a soldier kissing a child before leaving for France in 1914.
It runs until September 26th. Note to self: must get out more. But failing that, there's always the Guardian.
