The best New Year's Eve events in Manchester to celebrate in style

With Christmas Day only a few sleep away, many of us will be looking ahead to New Year's Eve as we prepare to say goodbye to 2022.

Despite being a highlight of the social calendar, the previous two years were disrupted by the pandemic, which put a stop to the usual festivities. However, this year promises to be bigger than ever, and if you haven't yet decided on where you'll be celebrating, you might want to take a look at our list of parties, events and celebrations taking place across Manchester.

There's plenty of brilliant venues across Manchester and beyond to dance the night away, watch spectacular fireworks displays, and feast as we head into 2023. Below, you'll find our list of some of the events that are still taking bookings for December 31.

New Year's Eve at Sterling

Sterling, the cocktail bar found in the vault beneath the Stock Exchange hotel, was opened by the brothers Schofield, of Schofield's Bar fame, just a few months back and might be the classiest spot in town to bring in the New Year. It's offering two sittings - one from 5.30pm to 8.30pm, and another from 9pm until closing time in the wee small hours. Tickets are £30, including a glass of champagne, and for an extra £45, you can indulge in its seafood menu too, comprising oysters with a martini granita, classic prawns with Marie Rose sauce, a brown butter bearnaise lobster roll with french fries and old school desserts in 'bon bon' form, like Eton mess, lemon cheesecake and black forest gateaux. New Year's at The Blue's Kitchen

This New Year's Eve, the Blues Kitchen house band will take to the stage for three live sets of classic funk, soul & rock n roll. Expect to hear the likes of Aretha Franklin, Fleetwood Mac, Stevie Wonder and The Rolling Stones, plus many more. For those looking to celebrate the arrival of 2023 over a meal, early dining tables are available from 7pm, while later tables from 9pm are available until close, with dishes spanning their infamous Buffalo Chicken Wings and Cheeseburger Spring Rolls to Smoked Baby Back Ribs and Philly Cheese Steak. Tickets are now on sale for Disco Dancer - craft beer and Indian street food connoisseurs Bundobust’s New Year's Eve extravaganza at their beer hall on Oxford Street. “Bundobust Brewery goes to Bollywood” is the theme with entertainment, projections, and an Indian party soundtrack all night long from Niamh McGuiness from Angle Meadows Soul Club and International crate digger extraordinaire, Andy Votel. For those who have bemoaned the fact that you can’t get Okra Fries or a Vada Pav after 10pm, Bundobust are kindly running a late night food menu serving their hit dishes past midnight for one night only. Homoelectric New Year's Eve

The people behind Homoelectric are ready and primed to finish off 2022 with a bang, and are hosting their New Year party at the recently refurbished New Century. Since 2019, organisers have pushed to create parties where there are no entry requirements as they strive to make sure there's space for everyone - and his year is no different, so expect the usual flamboyance and flair with a stellar line-up of artists and DJs sets. New Year's Eve at Tattu

This New Year’s Eve, Tattu will be offering specifically curated three-course menus featuring dishes such as Caramel soy aged beef fillet, Thai style crispy monkfish and a White chocolate dragon egg dessert. Soundtracking the celebrations will be Tattu’s resident DJs playing the finest deep house. If you would prefer to save the partying until New Year's Day, the restaurant is also hosting a brunch party with dishes ranging from glazed beef gyoza and sticky beef bao buns to black pepper honey ribs paired perfectly free-flowing cocktails and Laurent-Perrier Champagne. New Year's Eve at The Warehouse Project

New Year's Eve at The Warehouse Project will see sets from some of this year's biggest breakthrough names alongside the electronic scene's most experienced heads and hands. Annie Mac, former BBC Radio 1 broadcaster and tastemaker, Scottish dance duo LF System, 'the baddest of them all' Eliza Rose with friend and collaborator, Interplanetary Criminal, and North Shields legend, Ben Hemsley are just some of the headliners gracing Mayfield Depot this New Years Eve. NYE 2022 at The Refuge

Refuge will close the curtains on 2022 with a party to remember with the usual ingredients that make New Year at the venue the place to be. This year they've turned up the heat a little with Viva la Refuge, which will celebrate the acts at the forefront of the Manchester DJ and music scene. Kicking off the fiesta will be Hannah O’Gorman and Isaac Williams a.k.a. DJ collective, Nossa, followed by pioneering producer and DJ, Levi Love, who’ll see the party go-ers through (and past) midnight. Scattered throughout the evening will be various immersive performances and surprises set to take NYE to a whole new level. Tickets are £30 and can be purchased here.

Into The New Year with Peru Perdu

Decked out with flickering candles, hanging plants and trailing botanicals, Peru Perdu is adorned with soft furnishings and cosy textures, making it a relaxing spot to bring in the new year. And, for one night only, the restaurant situated within Whitworth Locke is offering diners an an elevated New Year’s Eve menu, set across four delicious courses and designed by hospitality consultant, David Gale, who has previously been executive chef at Soho House New York and Hilton Manchester. The menu features special dishes which take influence from the original, Peruvian-inspired offering including ceviche, Langoustine bisque with scallop and lobster and dulce de leche for dessert. The New Year's set menu costs £75pp, and reservations can be made here.

New Year's Eve Party at Provence

For a New Year’s Eve special - and for the first time since opening in October - no booking is required for the new Spinningfields wine bar’s famed ‘wine-oke’ sessions - wine and karaoke combined, a 'wine jukebox' if you will. Wine lovers can simply rock up and sing their hearts out. Normally available as a bookable private group session only, Provence will be opening the venue’s secret downstairs space, The Cellar, for wine-oke walk-ins from 8pm, and guests will enjoy a free glass of fizz when the clock strikes midnight.

Funkademia New Year's Eve

Funkademia has been filling dance floors every Saturday night since 1995, making it Manchester's longest running club night. This New Year's Eve is returns to its spiritual home of Mint Lounge in the Northern Quarter to deliver the biggest disco and funk tunes until 4am. From Michael Jackson and Aretha Franklin to Stevie Wonder to Snoop Dogg - and everything in between - the night will carry on long into the night with plenty of classics to keep people parting all night long. Tickets are £3 and available here.

New Year's Eve at Escape to Freight Island

the entrance to food hall and entertainment venue Escape to Freight Island will be ticketed from 7.30pm as the venue transforms into a New Year’s Eve extravaganza with DJ sets from Greg Wilson, Marco Giannini, Sticky Heat, Lil Minx and a special Wedding Crashers set from Jaguar Skills. Alongside tunes from these Manchester DJs, the venue will also present live acts from walkabout performers and dancers. To keep the party going, there will also be an exclusive Grey Goose Aprés Bar, Craft Beer Tap Room, The Jane Eyre Cocktail Bar and a Mulled Wine Barrel Bar, plus grub from all of Escape to Freight Island's usual traders. Tickets are priced at £8 for General Admissions and £18.50 for Table Reservations.

King Street Townhouse

Manchester hotel, King Street Townhouse, is hosting an enchanted night to remember this New Year’s Eve, inviting you to put on your finest black-tie glad rags, and enjoy some celebratory champagne and a live music. Tickets start at £89 per person and there is something on offer for everyone, whether you want to go all out with a slap-up meal or just come along for the party. Each ticket includes champagne and canapes on arrival, a glass of champagne at midnight, a festive hot drink, and petit fours. Party only tickets are available from £89 per person and can be upgraded to include a 4-course dinner for £149 per person. Tickets can be purchased here.
