Best new treatments to banish split ends - from Grow Gorgeous to L'Oréal

Is your hair looking a little frazzled?

It may be from damage caused by over-styling your lengths with heated tools, or from regular use of bleach or hair dye - but splitting, brittle ends never look good.

If you're looking for a way to go repair your hair (that doesn't mean chopping it all off!) then we've got just the trick. We had our testing panel put five new treatments to the test, to see if any of the creams or serums were able to add hydration and smooth ends.

From a formula infused with kale to a new Aussie brand of serum that promises to turn back the time on damage, here's what our panel thought of these...

Bondi Boost Rapid Repair Serum

Beauty writer Zoe says: ‘I’ve been using the serum since I had my hair bleached last month. My hair is fine so usually after colouring it looks dry and damaged, particularly at the ends, but after trying this I can see some good results.

'It feels very soft, but not weighed down.’

Grow Gorgeous Balance Split Ends Serum

Tester Jessica says: ‘I’m prone to greasy hair and if I even used slightly too much of this, it made my hair look oily.

'It did make it easier to style, though. I usually spend around 20 mins blow-drying my hair with frizzy results - especially where my ends are a bit split - but with this serum I spent less time drying and my hair stayed smoother and sleek all day.’

L’Oréal Elvive Dream Lengths Frizz Killer Serum

Tester Victoria says: ‘It has a pleasant fragrance and a gel-like consistency. A little goes a long way and I found it easy to apply.

'When my hair was wet it didn’t feel very nourished, but the appearance was excellent when dried. Smooth, very swishable and my ends looked less dry and split than usual.’

Color Wow Dream Cocktail Kale-infused

Tester Lisa says: ‘I wash my hair every other day and have used this each time for the past month. It makes my hair easier to dry and style and I haven’t noticed my (usually bad!) split ends at all.

'My hair feels smooth and healthy and the bottle lasts for ages as I’m only using a few squirts each time.’

Virtue Split End Serum

Tester Christina says: ‘My split ends are at critical point - I’ve not had a haircut in over six months! But after applying a pump of this to slightly damp hair, I noticed results straight away.

'Most of my split ends appear to have vanished and my hair looks noticeably healthier. The serum smells divine, too.’

Tip: Split ends are caused by styling, heat and chemical damage, so always use a heat protect spray and have regular trims every 2-3 months to keep your hair looking its healthiest.
