Best Netflix top 10 shows — top 3 series you need to binge-watch this week (May 26-June 1)

Netflix on a futuristic hyper light background.

If you're on the hunt for your next Netflix watch and could use some help choosing what to watch on one of the best streaming services, allow me to help. Here at Tom's Guide, we keep a close eye on what's in Netflix's top 10 charts, and each week, we whittle down that list down to just a handful of picks.

Why? To ensure you've got a ready-made list of streaming suggestions to check the next time you're between shows, meaning you don't have to waste your precious viewing time scrolling endlessly through categories and genres. You can find my three trending Netflix picks (and a full breakdown of the top 10) below. Note: These picks are based on the Netflix U.S. top 10 as of Tuesday, May 26.

Best shows in the Netflix top 10

'Man on Fire'

I've been including "Man on Fire" on this roundup for a while now, but I still think this seven-part action thriller is worth checking out if you haven't found the time already.

If you're not familiar with the title, it's based on a novel of the same name (which was also adapted into a 2004 movie starring Denzel Washington). In Netflix's adaptation, "Wonder Man" star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II takes on the role of John Creasy, a former Special Forces Mercenary who is now a man who's haunted by his own past. While he's trying to overcome his demons, he's pulled back into the fray and takes the law into his own hands after a mission goes wrong in Rio, a mission that pits him against enemies on all sides.

'Nemesis'

Given the show's mixed reception, it seems "Nemesis" won't be for everyone, but when you consider the show has remained a top 10 watch, and several critics liked it, I figure this crime thriller is worth including here.

"Nemesis," if you're yet to tune into it, is a new series from "Power" creator Courtney A. Kemp. Ultimately, it's a story about two men on the opposite sides of the law — criminal mastermind Coltrane Wilder (Y'lan Noel) and Detective Isaiah Stiles (Matthew Law), a brilliant police detective — who are locked in a power play for the ages.

'The Boroughs'

I'm rounding out this week's list with a sci-fi drama with "Stranger Things" creators The Duffer Brothers on board as executive producers. This is "The Boroughs," which my fellow TG writer Alix Blackburn described as delivering "a bingeable, emotionally resonant, and visually cinematic mystery" in her 4.5/5-star review.

"The Boroughs" takes us away to a picture-perfect retirement community in the New Mexico desert with a dark secret. After a monstrous encounter, new arrival Sam Cooper (Alfred Molina) joins forces with a group of neighborhood misfits and, together, they try to unravel the truth of The Boroughs before it's too late.
