Best Monster Train 2 builds

As you play Monster Train 2, you unlock new cards, equipment, rooms, and artifacts to make a variety of different builds with various clans to take down the final bosses. While each of them has different strengths and synergies, some stand out as superior to outshine others.

These Monster Train 2 builds are easy to execute, and they also help you climb higher covenants by focusing on working a specific combo in your runs to defeat bosses without taking any damage to your pyre.

Here is a detailed breakdown of all Monster Train 2’s best builds that have worked like a charm for us during our runs and the cards that you need to get to build them in your matches:

Harvesting the power of the Moon, Arduhn’s passive Mystic Hammer is essential to making this build work. As the Lunar Coven clan has moon cycles, you can use your starter spell, like Moon Ritual, to instantly turn the moon cycle to New Moon. Other spells like Cover Moon can also cause the New Moon, along with Gravity, which helps you descend enemy units.

You can also use the Shadowcast ability to turn into New Moon. Having the new moon allows you to boost the champion attack by 50/100/150 directly to take down those beefy enemy frontline characters. You can also get the Trample effect through your units, and the buffed damage should be enough to take down a large army.

As you can always make it the New Moon using the tools at your disposal, now you can also get units like Shadeguard to passively gain stats and the Selene Acolyte, which can be solid tank and sweep damage options to melt down enemies on the first floor.

  • Best Artifacts: Astrologers’ Orrery, Lunar Lantern, and Moonstone.
  • Best Room: Eclipse Chamber Room to permanently get the New Moon on a floor.
  • Best Allied Clans: Underlegion to get tank units and Funguy to keep him away from harm. The Banished clan units are also tanky, and the valor also increases their stats further.

Funguy harvesting for Bolete build

You unlock Bolete after you get the Underlegion clan, and he was ranked as the best champion in our starter list for his harvest build. While having the Executioner passive, the Guillotine master gains rage and regen from each unit that dies on the floor. Funguys are very easy to summon, and they can be placed on the floor despite having no space, which makes them the perfect damage soakers while Bolete passively gains regen and rage to gain stats.

Multiple units like Cluster Colonel, Green Recruit, and Eager Conscript are great for instantly spawning a lot of Funguy in front of him. With each hit of the enemy, a few Funyguy die, but they protect your backline while also amplifying the damage of your champion. You can also use spells like Inhale, Mushroom Cloud, Spawning Pods, and Funguy in a suit to increase your Funguy number while also aggressively dealing damage to the enemies.

I’ve had matches where I’ve reached 800 to 1,000 damage on Bolete while also keeping my middle tank healthy, as most of the damage is soaked up by the Funguy, making it one of the best builds to easily make deep runs once you have the right cards in your deck.

  • Best Artifacts: Cortical Connector, Sapsuckling Spring, and Spotted Spore.
  • Best Room: Infectory spawns Funguy whenever a troop dies.
  • Best Allied Clans: Lazarus League for getting the benefit of the mixes, and Luna Coven/Hellhorned to provide heals and armor to the units.

Baron Gael eats Scientists for Lunch build

Baron Gael is one of the best alternate champions in the game, but his scientist-eating build has so much scaling potential that it easily outshines even the hardest bosses. Your goal for the build is simple: get the Devour ability as his passive and recruit every scientist you can find on the market. There is a wide range of units like Erratic, Sanguine, Overworked Scientists, along with Plague Doctor and Double-Edged Bearer, who can be spawned next to the Baron Gael, and they can be consumed using his ability to directly transfer all their attack power to the champion.

You can also use various spells like Scarp for Parts, Risky Operation, and Weaponized Prosthetic to make the units stronger to feed Baron and watch him carry your fights. The best part about this build is that you don’t need to focus at all on the champion. Instead, you focus on having three or four tanks to damage while giving attack buffs to the scientists to make them good fodder for your champion.

You can consume a unit twice using animate and make them bulky to soak in damage and eat them up when they’re just about to die to get the most out of them in your fights.

  • Best Artifacts: Advanced Growth, Frenzystesia, and Hair of the Hybrid.
  • Best Room: Reanimation Lab for gaining extra stats on attack and health every time a unit is summoned or respawns on the floor.
  • Best Allied Clans: Underlegion to get more cushion and soak the corruption. You can also pair with the Banished to get powerful buffs, making it easier to transfer stats to Baron Gael.
