Weapons in Battlefield 6 are quite balanced across the board, with most weapons being unique to play yet on the same level as the rest in terms of performance. There’s only one exception, and that’s the M87A1 shotgun.
The M87A1 is the strongest close-range weapon in the game, dominating in smaller, close-quarters modes. Chances are, you’ve been killed by it already way too many times, so it’s time to take it for a spin yourself.
Here’s the best M87A1 loadout in Battlefield 6, including attachments, gadgets, and more.
The best M87A1 loadout in BF6
Best M87A1 build

The M87A1 shotgun is one of the most oppressive weapons in Battlefield 6, even in its base configuration. This build makes it precise to fire from the hip (as there’s barely any time to ADS when up close and personal), making every other kill look like a trickshot.
Here are the best attachments for M87A1 in Battlefield 6:
| Slot | Attachment |
|---|---|
| Barrel | 20″ Factory (10P) |
| Left Accessory | Flashlight (10P) |
| Underbarrel | Folding Vertical (10P) |
| Magazine | Seven Shell Tube (5P) |
| Ammunition | Slugs (40P) |
| Right Accessory | 50 MW Green (20P) |
This build uses a Flashlight that takes an additional 10 attachment points but blinds enemies. It’s an extremely annoying attachment to play against when fighting in tight spaces, leaving enemies confused and disoriented. If you prefer not to use it, you can use the extra 10 points on a better grip, like the Ribbed Vertical. Otherwise, the best grip within the budget is the Folding Vertical. It reduces recoil at the cost of ADS accuracy while moving.
Slug ammunition is the most important part of the build. Default Buckshot is good and deals more damage, but the high precision and range of Slugs make any hit up close a one-shot kill. You may still miss some shots due to hip-firing and weapon bloom, yet it’s satisfying when the bullets connect.
There’s no need for the scope on the shotgun, but you do need a 50 MW Green laser as the top accessory. Lasers increase hip-fire accuracy at the cost of exposing you to the enemy, but that doesn’t matter as much in heated close-quarters combat.
Best M87A1 gadgets and throwable

No class in Battlefield 6 has shotguns as a signature weapon, so you can run M87A1 with anything you want. The strongest option is to use it as a gadget for the Assault class, giving you a more flexible loadout, but you can also pair it with other classes depending on the map.
Here’s the best Assault class loadout to run with M87A1:
- Training path: Breacher
- Primary: SOR-556 MK2 or AK4D
- Gadget one: M87A1
- Gadget two: Thermobaric grenade launcher
- Throwable: Stun grenade
For the Assault class, assault rifles in the primary slot are always a good choice, thanks to the passive buffs. Since the shotgun covers close range, you can opt for a longer-range assault rifle with a lower fire rate, like the SOR-556 MK2 or AK4D. Faster assault rifles, like M433, are also good on most maps.
In the second gadget slot, the Thermobaric grenade launcher is a go-to against infantry due to its burning effects. Frag grenade is a good general-use throwable, but if you want to rush in with the M87A1, you might also consider a flash grenade (don’t flash yourself, though).
