Weapons in Battlefield 6 are quite balanced across the board, with most weapons being unique to play yet on the same level as the rest in terms of performance. There’s only one exception, and that’s the M87A1 shotgun.
The M87A1 is the most overpowered and dangerous weapon in the game, especially in smaller, close-quarters modes. Chances are, you’ve been killed by it already way too many times, so it’s time to take it for a spin yourself.
Here’s the best M87A1 loadout in Battlefield 6, including attachments, gadgets, and more.
The best M87A1 loadout in BF6
Best M87A1 build

The M87A1 shotgun is one of the most oppressive weapons in Battlefield 6, even in its base configuration. This build makes it extremely precise to fire from the hip, as there’s barely any time to ADS when up close and personal, making every other kill look like a trickshot.
Here are the best attachments for M87A1 in Battlefield 6:
Slot | Attachment |
---|---|
Underbarrel | 6H64 Vertical |
Magazine | Seven Shell Tube |
Ammunition | Slugs |
Top Accessory | 5 MW Green |
The 6H64 Vertical is the best option thanks to its increased control. Other grips may provide mobility, but they’re focused on improving ADS speed, which is something we don’t need on the M87A1. For the same reason, the Seven Shell Tube is better than the Five Shell Tube. It increases draw speed and offers two more shots that can make or break the gunfight.
Slug ammunition is the most important part of the build. Default Buckshot is good, and on paper, deals more damage than Slugs, but nothing comes close to Slug’s consistency. Short range, medium range, you name it. You may still miss some shots, because hip-fire is never 100 percent accurate. Still, it’s a superior option to Buckshot.
There’s no need for the scope on the shotgun, but you do need a 5 MW Green laser as the top accessory. Lasers increase hip-fire accuracy at the cost of exposing you to the enemy, but that doesn’t matter as much in heated close-quarters combat.
Best M87A1 gadgets and throwable

No class in Battlefield 6 has shotguns as a signature weapon, so you can run M87A1 with anything you want. The strongest option is to use it as a gadget for the Assault class, giving you a more flexible loadout, but you can also pair it with Support’s Deployable Cover or even Recon’s Motion Sensor.
Here’s the best Assault class loadout to run with M87A1:
- Field Specs: Frontliner
- Primary: M433 or M4A1
- Gadget one: M87A1
- Gadget two: Thermobaric Grenade Launcher
- Throwable: Smoke
For the Assault class, assault rifles in the primary slot are always a good choice, thanks to the passive buffs. Both M433 and M4A1 are solid options, with M433 offering more control and mobility, and M4A1 offering increased fire rate, muzzle velocity, and maximum headshot damage multiplier.
In the second gadget slot, the Thermobaric Grenade Launcher is a go-to against infantry due to its burning effects. Smoke is a good general-use throwable, but if you want to rush in with the M87A1, you might also consider a flash grenade (don’t flash yourself, though).
