Kim Kardashian was the first from the famous clan to be invited to the glitzy bash, and then for years only Kendall, Kylie and momager Kris Jenner were granted permission to attend the exclusive ball.
Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian finally got the call up in 2022 and didn't disappoint when they finally made it to the coveted guest list.
The event tonight pays tribute to Chanel's Karl Lagerfeld and Kim already gave a nod to the fashion icon when she rocked up at a pre-gala dinner, head-to-toe in the French label.

Kim Kardashian's dramatic debut - 2013
Wearing the outfit that sparked millions of memes, Kim looked stunning in a floor-length Givenchy couture floral gown - with matching shoes - as she cosied up to Kanye West on the red carpet.
Kim was also pregnant with the couple’s first child, North West, and despite being criticised for wearing the garish dress, Kim said it was one of her favorite looks.
Kim switches it up and Kendall makes her mark - 2014
New mum Kim switched it up and opted for high glamour in this stunning Lanvin gown, which she previously confessed was supposed to be made in leather, but designers had decided to use blue satin instead.
Kendall Jenner made her Met Gala debut in 2014, and wore a dress from her and sister Kylie Jenner’s eponymous clothing line for Topshop.
Kim's 'naked' dress steals the show - 2015
The reality star was just a few weeks pregnant with son Saint when she rocked a white nearly-naked Roberto Cavalli dress, accompanied by husband Kanye, who dressed all in black.
Mum Kris Jenner made her first-ever appearance on the red carpet in a red high-necked Balmain gown, while Kendall Jenner wore a slinky green Calvin Klein column dress.
Kylie Jenner makes her debut - 2016
This year, Kim fully embraced the Met Gala’s theme Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology’ and rocked a show-stopping silver embellished Balmain gown, while Kanye wore ripped jeans and a silver embellished jacket.
Kris opted for a black Balmain gown, and Kendall looked stunning in a cut-out Versace patterned high-neck dress, with her hair slicked into a sleek ponytail.
Kylie Jenner made her debut appearance at the Met Gala in 2016, and wowed with a barely-there embellished Balmain gown, which featured mesh panels and intricate sequins.
Kendall's see-through dress - 2017
Appearing on the red carpet just months after she was the victim of a horrific robbery in Paris, Kim toned down her style for an ethereal white Vivienne Westwood dress and simple silver sandals.
Meanwhile, Kendall left little to the imagination in her see-through La Perla mesh dress with matching lingerie, as little sister Kylie stole the show in an beautifully embellished Versace gown , which featured delicate fringing and intricate flowers.
Kim is a goddess in gold - 2018
For the Heavenly Bodies theme, Kim rocked a skintight gold Versace dress, which she later said she had to do a juice cleanse to fit into.
Sister Kendall wore an Off-White jumpsuit, while sister Kylie attended with boyfriend Travis Scott in a stunning Alexander Wang dress, just a few months after she gave birth to daughter Stormi.
Kim's 'favourite dress ever' makes a splash - 2019
Kim’s couture Thierry Mugler dress has become one of the most famous dresses in the world, and despite being in constant pain while wearing the corseted creation, Kim said it’s one of her favourite dresses ever.
With her wet-look hair and the beaded droplets on her dress, Kim looked like she’d just stepped out of the sea.
While sisters Kendall and Kylie opted for extravagant feathered dresses by Versace, with Kylie in a lilac dress with matching feathers, and Kendall rocking a bright orange dress.

Kim had one of the most surprising outfits at the 2021 Met Gala when she sported black bodysuit and face covering that completely disguised her.
The reality star's look divided fans, with some comparing her to a "gimp" and a Dementor from Harry Potter.
Her outfit was designed by Demna Gvasalia, the creative director of Balenciaga, which Kim used to love before the brand released a disturbing advertising campaign, which it swiftly apologised for.
Kim later she wasn't a fan of the outfit, telling Vogue. “I was like, ‘I don’t know how I could wear the mask. Why would I want to cover my face?’”
Kylie's wedding-inspired vibe - 2022
Kylie Jenner shocked fans by turning up in what looked like a wedding dress last year.
The make-up mogul donned the white ruffled frock - plus matching baseball cap and veil - with some thinking the star had tied the knot with her beau Travis Scott.
However, the 'billionaire baby' wore the outfit in homage to Off-White designer Virgil Abloh, who sadly died in 2021.
Posting a tribute to her friend on Instagram, Kylie wrote: "Virgil and i were supposed to go to the Met together before it got postponed in 2020. To celebrate V tonight and his incredible legacy truly means the world to me. I’m humbled to wear this dress and honour my talented beautiful friend. We felt you tonight Virgil and love you forever & thank u to the entire @off____white team !!."
