Best Jotunnslayer Hordes of Hel Character Builds (September 2025) [1.0 Class Guide]

Updated September 11, 2025
This guide is up to date with the latest Jotunnslayer version 1.0, with all six classes included!

While you can get through the first few levels with random builds, as you progress, you'll need more refined builds to win on harder difficulty levels. With the major 1.0 release, the game now features six unique champion classes, including the powerful new Kinslayer, expanded god skills from Nidhogg, the challenging Helheim map, and the ultimate test of Endless difficulty mode. So, to help you with that, we've compiled all the best Jotunnslayer Hordes of Hel character builds.

Nidhogg God Skills Can Improve Builds in Jotunslayer 1.0

The Jotunslayer 1.0 update introduced Nidhogg as the sixth god, offering some of the most dangerous passive abilities in the game. While they're powerful, keep in mind that Nidhogg skills often come with significant drawbacks.

Nidhogg Skills Effect Drawback
All In 0.13% Damage per enemy killed Permanently stops ALL healing
Power Overwhelming Huge damage boost Reduces maximum HP significantly
No Remorse 24% Damage increase May reduce defensive capabilities
Vigor 2 HP/s regeneration Lower regen than other gods

Best Berserker Build in Jotunnslayer Hordes of Hel

How to unlock: Unlocked by default (starting character)

The Berserker is one of the first characters you get unlocked in Jotunnslayer Hordes of Hel. Being a typical Barbarian, the Berserker uses his melee skills and Rage mode to shred through most monsters. While lacking range, the Barbarian relies on brute strength to survive. So, there are two great Jottunslayer Berserker builds you can use to make the most out of this character.

Zealot God Skill Crit Build

Name Type Priority Reason
Seething Zeal Passive (Class) Essential Critical hits from attacks reset God Skill CD.

  • Recommended Weapon: Crippling Axes (Critical Chance +5%)
  • Skill Point Allocation: 7x Power (Thor), 7x Resolution (Freya), Evolved Divine Wave, Evolved Gambanteinn

This Berserker build is heavily reliant on God Skills, specifically those from Freya. It utilizes Berserker's high critical chance to continuously reset the cooldown of your skills, thereby maximizing DPS. Once you have the essential skills unlocked, you can choose almost any AoE or high DPS God skill and clear the levels with ease.

Unlike the previous Jottunslayer build, this build is completely dependent on the class passives and talent skills. This takes the luck factor out and is a more lengthy style of playing. Triggering rage every few seconds and tanking almost any amount of damage while recovering insanely fast. With the Troll Scion sub-class buff, you'll be almost immortal.

Best Seeress build in Jotunnslayer Hordes of Hel

How to unlock: Unlocked by default (starting character)

The Seeress is the second starting character you get unlocked in Jotunnslayer Hordes of Hel. Being a typical mage, the Seeress relies on her magical skills, and God skills to dish out massive amounts of damage. Even though she lacks defense, you can deal significant AoE damage with the right build. So, here are two builds to help you get started.

Hag God Skill Build

Name Type Priority Reason
Lightning Strike Active (Thor) Essential No CD, high damage, huge AoE ranged skill.
Golden Disc Active (Freya) Essential Low CD, high damage, huge AoE ranged skill.

Overwhelming Potential Passive (Thor) High Increases Thor's skill damage by up to 30%.
Radiant Echo Passive (Freya) High Increases Double Cast chance by up to 36%.

  • Skill Point Allocation: 6x Mastery of Fate (Class), 2x Divination (Class), 7x Power (Thor), 6x Sentinel (Thor), 2x Overwhelming Potential (Thor), 3x Lightning Strike (Thor)

While the Seeress lacks defenses, she makes up for it with insane firepower. With these primarily God skills build and her Hag subclass, you can clear almost any level with relative ease. The no CD skills paired with multiple stacks of God skill damage boost make this an ideal build for the Seeress, as well as any other hero that you want.

Best Revenant build in Jotunnslayer Hordes of Hel

Revenant in Jotunnslayer Hordes of Hel

How to unlock: Unlocked by clearing Niflheim on Easy mode

The Revenant is a ranged hero that excels at dealing tons of long-range damage while also having a wolf companion on the side. This limits his build to two distinct playstyles: one that relies heavily on the bow and arrow, and another that focuses on summoning. So, here's how you can use both of them.

Marksman Attack Speed Build

Name Type Priority Reason
Sleipnir's Speed Passive (Odin) Essential Increases Attack Speed by up to 30%
Blows of Jarngreipr Passive (Thor) Essential Attacks have a chance to cause Knockback and Stun

Aimed Shot Passive (Class) High Increase Attack by up to 30%
Necrotic Rain Active (Class) Low Shoots a wave of arrows in an AoE.

As you may have guessed from the name, this Jottunslayer build optimizes the Marksman subclass to create a hero that is essentially an arrow machine gun. The hero, if built properly, will shred through almost any number of enemies, and acts like a shotgun when up against Elite enemies or even Jotunns.

Beastmaster Haunting Wolf Build

Name Type Priority Reason
Dire Wolf Passive (Class) Essential Haunting wolves have a 10% slay chance.
Shattered Spirit Passive (Class) Essential 35% chance to release a haunting wolf after dash.

  • Skill Point Allocation: 7x Lichborne (Class), 6x Wild Hearth (Class), 7x Power (Thor), 2x Heroic Hymn (Freya),

A more unique and alternative build for the Revenant is the Beastmaster build. This focuses on making the most of the Haunting Wolf passive of this hero. To supplement any damage, you can choose meta AoE God skills like Golden Discs to clear most stages. While not as consistent as the Marksman build, this can still be a fun option for most players.

Best Flame Sister build in Jotunnslayer Hordes of Hel

How to unlock: Unlocked by clearing Niflheim on Normal mode

The Flame Sister is the third character you can unlock in Jotunnslayer. She is somewhat of an amalgamation of both the Revenant and the Seer. Because of this, you can create two distinct builds for her, one that takes advantage of her nimbleness and high attack speed, while the other maximizes her firepower. So, here's both the build for you to try out.

Ash Disciple God Skill Build

Name Type Priority Reason
Lightning Strike Active (Thor) Essential No CD, high damage, huge AoE ranged skill.
Divine Wave Active (Freya) Essential No CD, high damage, AoE skill around the Hero.

  • Skill Point Allocation: 7x Vital Spot (Class), 7x Power (Thor), 6x Sentinel (Thor), 2x Overwhelming Potential (Thor), 3x Lightning Strike (Thor), 7x Prowess (Odin), 3x Divine Wave (Freya)

This is the key build for the Flame Sister with the Ash Disciple. With the number of God Skill damage buffs stacked, this build has some of the highest DPS numbers you can expect. For example, I could clear the Flame Jotunn within 15 seconds with this build. Try to unlock the no CD skills as fast as possible, then just sit back and watch the destruction unfold.

Smoke Assassin Slay Build

Flame Sister in Jotunnslayer Hordes of Hel

This build is similar to the Marksman build of the Revenant, but the only difference is that this has a total of 40% Slay Chance, so almost every attack will one-shot regular monsters on any level. Apart from that, the high attack speed and status effects make it an ideal assassin build to clear any boss at relatively close range.

Best Warden Build in Jotunnslayer Hordes of Hel

How to unlock: Unlocked by clearing Jotunheim on Normal mode

Of all Jotunnslayer Hordes of Hel Character builds, this class is one of the most popular. The Warden is one of the iconic Dwarven characters in Jotunnlayer. He has all the passive skills of a tank and relies heavily on either pure damage or defense. Because of this, you get two ideal builds that you can use with him, each focusing on one of his strengths. So, here's both the build for you to try out.

Weapon Master God Skill Build

Name Type Priority Reason
Iron Fist Active (Class) Essential 5s CD, high damage, decent AoE ranged skill with CC.
Magnetized Anvil Active (Class) Essential 4s CD, very high damage, AoE skill.

The above build is the highest DPS build you can use when using the Warden Class. This makes most skills have low CD, helping you trigger Double Cast, which in turn doubles your DPS as well as provides consistent healing. The skills have balanced DPS, CC, and AoE, making it ideal for any stage.

This is more of an unconventional Jottunslayer Warden build since it completely focuses on the defensive aspect of its skillset. With a solid 50% chance to block all attacks, around 50% Damage Reduction, over +15 HP/s regen, and +700 Max HP, this build makes the Warden into a walking Fortress. Almost all attacks are tanked easily, and an insane amount of damage is reflected.

Best Builds for Endless Mode

Endless mode pushes your builds to their absolute limits. Unlike standard difficulties, Endless mode requires builds that can scale infinitely while maintaining survivability. Here's how to improve your build for the Endless mode.

  • Prioritize scaling over burst: Skills that grow stronger over time
  • Maximum survivability: Health regen, block chance, damage reduction
  • AoE over single-target: Crowds become overwhelming quickly
  • Avoid Nidhogg's "All In": Healing becomes crucial in later waves

Best Endless Mode Classes Tier List

  1. S-Tier: Kinslayer (Warglaive build), Flame Sister (Ash Disciple)
  2. A-Tier: Seeress (Hag build), Warden (Weapon Master)
  3. B-Tier: Revenant (Marksman), Berserker (Zealot)

Kinslayer Warglaive build is the best choice for the Endless mode, with focus on these skills:

Perth (Brokk & Sindri) Essential 25% Crit + 10% Slay chance scales infinitely
Teiwaz (Brokk & Sindri) Essential 75% Attack with Chain Attack

Jottunslayer Class Builds FAQ

What is the best class in Jotunnslayer Hordes of Hel?

The Kinslayer is currently the strongest class, thanks to her high base Attack and Crit scaling. She outpaces other heroes in raw DPS, though her skill build is on par with Seeress and Flame Sister.

What is the best God Skill overall?

Divine Wave is by far the best. It has no cooldown, huge AoE, and works perfectly in most builds. Lightning Strike and Golden Discs are close seconds for their versatility.

Which build is best for boss fights like Jotunn?

High single-target burst builds are ideal for boss fights. The Kinslayer’s Warglaive Crit build and Revenant’s Marksman build are the fastest boss killers, while Flame Sister’s Ash Disciple also shreds through bosses.

Which class is easiest for beginners?

The Seeress is the most beginner-friendly. Her Hag build has good AoE nukes, and her God Skills can clear areas quickly without relying on advanced stats like Rage or Slay chance.

What is Jottunslayer Horder of Hel?

Jotunnslayer: Hordes of Hel is a roguelike bullet-hell cross between Vampire Survivors and Diablo games. Here you get to play as one of six available champions (classes) and slay hordes of monsters, finally leading up to a boss showdown against the mighty Jotunn.

What's new in the Jotunslayer 1.0 update?

The 1.0 update added the Kinslayer class, Nidhogg god with high-risk/high-reward skills, Helheim map, Endless difficulty mode, and significant balance changes across all existing classes.

Which builds work best for the Jotunnslayer Endless mode?

Builds focusing on infinite scaling work best: Kinslayer's Warglaive build, Flame Sister's Ash Disciple, and any build incorporating Brokk and Sindri runes for percentage-based bonuses.

How do Nidhogg god skills work?

Nidhogg offers the most powerful damage bonuses, but with severe drawbacks. This is only for experienced players or those employing specific strategies.

Which class is easiest for Jotunnslayer beginners?

The Seeress with Hag build is most beginner-friendly. Strong AoE abilities, straightforward god skill usage, and good damage output without complex mechanics.

Should I mix different gods or focus on one?

Most optimal builds focus on 2-3 gods maximum. Popular combinations: Thor + Freya (damage + utility), Odin + Thor (crit + power), or Brokk & Sindri + any other god for rune synergy.
