'Best in the world!': Man City fans are saying the same thing about Phil Foden vs Brighton

Phil Foden has been labelled as 'the best young player' on the planet by ecstatic Manchester City supporters.

The 21-year-old was chosen to lead the line against Brighton this afternoon - operating in that 'false nine' position, with Gabriel Jesus and £100million man Jack Grealish starting either side of him.

Having starred in a similar role against Club Brugge, the England sensation took his output to a new level with two first-half goals at the Amex Stadium.

There was some confusion about his first, though, with Dan Burn seemingly getting the final touch.

Foden's two strikes came after returning Germany midfielder Ilkay Gundogan marked his return to the City line-up - after replacing Kevin de Bruyne - with his first goal of the Premier League season.

Here are a selection of comments about Foden's performance from City supporters on social media;

@Vhero said: "So are Foden and [Mason] Mount the new Stevie G and Lampard when it comes to England?"

@Brath85 posted: "Foden plays well above his years, what a player! Some people said he wouldn't make it..."

@DermottScully added: "He's not a bad player is he, this Foden lad?"

How good will Foden become for City and England? Have your say in the comments section below.

@rorysmythblue said: "Foden is magic and they're all playing well. Come on City."

@kdbkdbkdbkdbkdb posted: "Foden is currently the best youngster in the world - and no player on the planet is in better form than Bernardo Silva."

@fplinsights added: "I pray to the Gods above that Foden never leaves City."
