Ian Wright believes that Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is currently the best player in Europe but has argued that he still is not getting the credit he deserves.
The 29-year-old has nine goals in nine games across all competitions, as well as three assists, as the Reds look to compete for the game’s major honours this season.
Salah ’s individual brilliance was demonstrated by his outstanding goal in last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City, a game in which he had already provided the assist for Sadio Mane’s opener at Anfield.
Having proved his quality in a high-pressure situation against Pep Guardiola’s side, Arsenal legend Ian Wright was asked if he believes Liverpool ’s number 11 is now the best player in Europe.

“Probably at the moment with his form you could put him up there,” he told Optus Sport on the Kelly and Wrighty Show.
“I’m trying to think of who else is playing as good as he is right now and it’s very hard for it to jump out at you because he is playing so well.
“When Liverpool signed Salah I was thinking, ‘Mo Salah? Interesting’, but the season he had you’re thinking: ‘My gosh!’ He seems to me to have got back to that form at this stage.
“For me at the moment he probably is in the best form of his career and he’s probably the best in Europe at the moment.”
The wide forward began his Liverpool career with a stunning 44-goal haul in the 2017/18 campaign, which helped guide Jurgen Klopp’s team to the Champions League final.
Cementing his status as the Reds’ primary goal threat in following seasons, as the club won the Premier League and their sixth European Cup, the Egypt international is showing himself to be in red-hot form, once again.
Having reached 100 league goals for the Reds in record time last month, it appears that Salah’s achievements in a Liverpool shirt are beginning to be more widely recognised.
However, Wright feels that the sense of underappreciation comes from the exceptional standards previously set by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Messi - but has stressed that Salah deserves to be listed among the world’s best.

“We've been through an era of watching Messi and Ronaldo doing unbelievable things, superhero things, on a football pitch,” he continued.
“I think he is underrated because what he does on a regular basis, people are comparing it up to Ronaldo and Messi because we’re seeing them do stuff. But what he’s doing is unbelievable stuff as well.
“He’s doing it continuously, he’s doing it consistently and he is a little bit underrated because of those two guys there and are still there now.
“And so anybody that’s coming after them, it’s always going to be like, ‘Yeah, but we’ve seen some unbelievable stuff from those guys!’
“We’re seeing some unbelievable stuff from Salah but we’re not giving him the credit simply because there’s other people who we’ve seen do unbelievable stuff. He should get the credit.”
