Best Halloween 2022 events in and around Liverpool

Halloween is fast approaching, so it's time to start thinking about making plans to celebrate the spookiest holiday of them all.

Here in Liverpool, we are spoiled for choice with plenty of events to suit all ages. Whether you are looking for a family friendly activity, a themed night out with friends or a serious scarefest, you are sure to find something for you.

We've put together a list of some of the best Halloween events taking place in and around Liverpool this year to help you get in the spooky mood. Some of these events are suitable for all of the family, whilst others are too scary for children - so it's advised to check before you book.

Liverpool ONE parade

A spooky extravaganza will be coming to Liverpool ONE this Halloween. The retail and leisure destination will host a special Halloween party on Sunday, October 30 from 12pm until 5pm. Families of all ages are encouraged to join in with the packed programme of activities, while donning their spookiest fancy dress for the chance to win Liverpool ONE gift cards.

The event is hosted by Radio City, and will see a giant spider puppet, Arachnobot, make its way through the crowds. There will be a special Halloween parade led by local drumming favourites Katumba, as the participants of the fancy dress contest will show off their scary attire to the crowds.

When: Sunday, October 30 from 12pm until 5pm.

Farmaggedon

Located at Farmer Ted's Farm Park in Ormskirk, Farmaggedon is renowned for its array of spooky surprises. Some of the attractions on offer include The Beast of Terror haunted house and the Zombie Annihilation paintball experience.

Head to Freak Street where you will come face to face with 12 freshly created mutant zombies along with dancers, magicians and a zombie DJ. Get ready to sing your heart out at scary-oke, where an undead DJ will play the hits and you must sing along to survive.

Visit Contagion, if you dare. Hungry, vicious clowns take centre stage in this attraction in a frightful experience that's not for the faint hearted.

When: During October with several time slots available on each day.

Where: Farmer Ted's Farm Park, Flatman's Lane, Downholland, Ormskirk, L39 7HW.

Price: Prices range from £21.50-£36.50.

Stranger Things party

Fans of the hit Netflix series can enjoy a night of 80s classics, soundtrack hits and themed cocktails along with plenty of Halloween treats and spooky surprises. The event is coming to Camp and Furnace on October 28 and aims to send fans to the Upside Down and total 80s heaven.

Fans are encouraged to don their best costumes for the event, from Eddie's 80s rockers and Vecna-worthy monsters to possessed cheerleaders. There will be a DJ at the event as well as an array of impressive visuals and projections to provide fans with the ultimate Stranger Things experience as they dance the night away to the show's hits.

When: October 28.

Where: Camp and Furnace, 67 Greenland Street, Liverpool.

Price: £11 or £7.70 for students.

Halloween quiz

Seel Street venue Salt Dog Slims will be hosting a huge Halloween quiz and after party on Monday, October 31. The venue has created a special spooky-themed quiz complete with Halloween questions and prizes including tickets to Farmaggedon and an overnight stay in a haunted house.

Dressing up is strongly encouraged, with the chance to enter a best dress competition during the night too. Those taking part in the quiz can also play Halloween games including Jäger bobbing, mystery box of hell and Satan’s wheel of doom.

When: October 31

Free children's party

The Sandon is hosting a free Mischief Night party on Sunday October 30 from 5pm until late.

The party includes duck apple, a DJ, children’s entertainment, Halloween movies including Hocus Pocus and Hocus Pocus 2 as well as having food, drinks and hot chocolate available to purchase.

Owner Kate Stewart said: "I’m so passionate about helping the local community and giving back to Anfield. Mischief Night is renowned for encouraging trouble amongst kids and I want to ensure the community feels safe on Sunday, whilst keeping the younger generation entertained.

“This time of year, there are so many festivities to get involved in and enjoy but we must also consider the elderly or those who the likes of Mischief Night can frighten. We want children to enjoy themselves so we’re bringing them off the street to come to The Sandon to celebrate Halloween in a safe environment."

Knowsley Safari Spooktacular Safari Trail

A special animal-themed Spooktacular Safari Trail will be taking place at Knowsley Safari, with tickets included in the general admission price. Visitors can head to the Foot Safari where they'll be spellbound by ghoulish actors, fun facts and riddles to solve.

Families can learn more about animals including tigers and cats, as well as taking part in a range of interactive activities together. The spooky adventure will see each child treated to a special Halloween gift by one of the trail's mischievous characters.

When: From Saturday, October 22 to Sunday, October 30.

Where: Knowsley Safari, Prescot, L34 4AN

Price: Included in the admission fee. Tickets to Knowsley Safari cost £18.50 for adults and £15 for children and concessions. Children under three go free.

Alton Towers Scarefest

If you don't mind travelling a bit further afield, Alton Towers is celebrating 15 years of its award-winning Scarefest event this year. Prepare for spines to be tingled with a host of seriously spooky attractions for all ages.

Open until 9pm, guests can experience hair-raising rides in the dark including the Alton Towers Dungeon and three terrifically terrifying mazes. New for this year is The Invitation, where guests can descend into a burial chamber for a grave experience that you'll never forget.

When: October 7-9 and 14-31

Zombie prom at PINS

Head to PINS Social Club where you can experience a spooktacular zombie prom, a Halloween punch and a bandstand event. The venue has a whole weekend of fun planned with its Night to Disremember events.

Dance the night away to live DJs, enjoy a performance from a 10-piece jazz band and don your finest fancy dress. A special range of Halloween cocktails will be available at the events.

When: Friday, October 28 and Saturday, October 29.

Where: PINS Social Club, Duke Street, L1 5AP.

Price: No entry fee. Booking in advance is recommended.

Ottersghoul at Otterspool Adventure

Otterspool Adventure will be hosting the spooky Ottersghoul Event every day from Saturday, October 22 to Monday, October 31. The event includes a live Halloween Spooktacular show starring a trio of witches and their ghoulish guests in a production full of Halloween songs and magic.

New for this year, guests can also unlock the door to the abandoned Hocus Pocus House and explore the spooky secrets that lie within as part of an immersive experience. Another new addition is a tombstone trail. Those who enter the hallowed grounds of Old Burial Hill can walk through the ancient graveyard.

When: Every day from Saturday, October 22 to Monday, October 31.

Where: 37 Otterspool Drive, Liverpool, L17 5AL

Price: Tickets cost £20 for children, £10 for adults and £10 for children aged 12 to 23 months. Under ones go free. Otterspool members can receive a 10% discount on tickets for the Ottersghoul event.

Bombed Out Church Horror Night

The Bombed Out Church will be hosting Horror Night on October 29. The event will include open-air, late night film screenings accompanied by a fully stocked bar, hot drinks and a range of snacks.

The films on show will be the disturbing and surreal movie 'The Lighthouse' (rated 15) and the horrifying classic 'Hellraiser' (rated 18). Prepare to be on the edge of your seats.

When: October 29.

Paranormal event at Leasowe Castle

Set in Leasowe Castle, the Predictions Paranormal Show will include live hypnosis and a psychic masterclass from experts. The event is an ideal night for fans of all things spiritual and spooky.

Hypnotist Alan Bates will get members of the audience to recall tales from their previous lives, with the power to hypnotise people into past life regression. Alan has previously appeared on The Graham Norton Show and toured with Most Haunted's Derek Acorah. Tarot reader Anna Harrison from Predictions in Wallasey will also be shocking and spooking the audience with her paranormal showcase.

Flip Out Aintree

Trampoline park Flip Out Aintree is hosting two Halloween-themed sessions on Monday, October 31. The Flipout Spooktacular events will include spooky characters, special effect lighting and a range of fun games and prizes.

All general admission ticket holders will receive a free goody bag. The sessions run for 90 minutes and are recommended for ages 12 and above.

Hocus Pocus afternoon tea

A special Hocus Pocus-themed afternoon tea will be taking place in Liverpool this Halloween.

The cult classic fantasy comedy film was released in 1993, telling the story of The Sanderson Sisters - a trio of villainous witches played by Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. A sequel, Hocus Pocus 2, was released on Disney+ last month.

Due to popular demand and the first event on Sunday October 30 selling out in less than an hour, another event has been added and will take place on Monday, October 31 at 5.30pm. The afternoon tea will entertain audiences with a spectacular hocus pocus show featuring many of the songs from the movie.

For £30 per person, guests can enjoy a traditional afternoon tea served with a chilled glass of proscecco in The Bentley's Port of Liverpool Suite. Get into the spooky spirit by dancing and singing along, or simply sit back and enjoy as the show transports you back to 1693 Salem. Tickets to the event are on sale now and can be purchased via Eventbrite.

Nightmare on Colquitt Street

Popular arcade-themed bar NQ64 will be hosting a weekend of gaming horrors and cocktail treats in its Nightmare on Colquitt Street Halloween party. The spooky weekend will be filled with drinks inspired by Stranger Things, retro games and prizes for best costumes courtesy of Beavertown.

The cocktails on offer include two inspired by Netflix's smash-hit series, Stranger Things. Corroded Coffin and Vecna's Twist will be served alongside NQ64's brand new retro game cocktail menu.

When: From Friday, October 28 to Monday, October 31
