'Best friend' who pushed pal off bridge puncturing her lungs jailed for TWO DAYS

A teen who shoved her 16-year-old friend off a 60ft bridge and left her with broken ribs and punctured lungs has been jailed for just two days.

Tay'Lor Smith, 19, was also ordered to spend 38 days on a work crew after pleading guilty last week to reckless endangerment.

She pushed Jordan Holgerson off a bridge at Moulton Falls Regional Park in Washington, US, on August 7 last year.

Smith was fined $300 (£227) and banned from having contact with Jordan for two years.

Mobile phone footage that went viral online showed Smith pushing Jordan off the bridge.

Jordan, who was apparently hesitating as others jumped into the Lewis river, suffered five broken ribs and punctured lungs.

The teen is still suffering from anxiety and panic attacks and receiving physical therapy to treat a shoulder injury, her mum says.

Before sentencing, Clark County District Court Judge Darvin Zimmerman said: "I think you need to do some jail time."

He heard a statement from Jordan, NBC News reports.

"This nightmare started for me when I was falling through the air, and I was really terrified," she said.

"When I was being pulled from the water, I thought, 'I'm going to die', because I couldn't breathe. And I was watching my body change colour by the second."

Jordan's mother Genelle Holgerson told the judge she believed Smith acted intentionally and should serve as many days in jail as her daughter spent in the hospital - a total of three days.

She said in the court: "After Taylor pushed her, she did not rush down to see if Jordan was OK, she left the scene.

"She did not show up at the hospital to check on Jordan. She did not stop by our home to see if she was OK or in any other way act like a friend."

Smith apologised to Jordan and said she has grown as a person and learned to think before she acts.

She said: "I'd like to sincerely apologise to Jordan Holgerson, her family and friends for the pain and humiliation I have caused by my mindless actions that occurred last summer.

"Although it may have seemed like my intent was to harm, and like I may have moved on without putting any punishment on myself, this is false.

"Jordan has passed through my thoughts repetitively since the incident."
