'Best day of my life!' Moment Glasgow grandad wins £40k car and 20k cash prize

A Scots grandad who has “never won anything in his life” was “astonished” when he scooped his dream car and a £20,000 cash prize.

Andrew Boyle, 58, thought he was dreaming when car competition owners BOTB turned up on his doorstep with a brand-new Tesla plus and a briefcase full of cash.

A heartwarming video shows the East Kilbride grandad unable to contain his shock when he heard the news.

He said: “This is absolutely astonishing. I’ve never won anything in my life!”

The surprise came just in time for Andrew’s 59 birthday next week.

The father-of-three and grandad-of-five had been playing BOTB for over a year and had his heart set on the Model 3 Tesla for the past few months.

He said: “The electric Teslas absolutely fascinate me. They’re beautiful to look at, so sleek inside and the performance is just brilliant. But the main thing that interests me is how good they are for the environment - I’m keen to do my bit for the planet.

“I’ve never actually sat in an electric car let alone driven one - I can’t wait to take it for a spin.”

When Andrew then show the second surprise of the suitcase full of cash, he added: “ Wow! This is absolutely the best day of my life”.

He said: “That £20,000 will be such a huge help to us although I’m sure it won’t last long with the five grandchildren.

“I’ve got some things around the house to do and some other bits, too, but I certainly don’t need to buy a new car.

“Thank you so much BOTB!”

Christian Williams, of BOTB, surprised Andrew with the good news.

He said: “It was a wet and windy day in Glasgow but it was definitely not a miserable day for Andrew - what a car and what a guy, he was thrilled!

“I absolutely love surprising the BOTB winners each week and Andrew was no exception. He’s played for a fantastic car and I really hope he enjoys it.”

Since being founded in 1999 by William Hindmarch, BOTB has given away more than £34m worth of prizes, including supercars, cash and holidays.
