Best countries for Scots to relocate to in 2021 named as Spain bumped off list

Packing up and moving to another country might seem like the perfect plan for you.

But which country would you choose?

Some people spend their lives saving to retire abroad, while others look for a new start with their family oversees.

A recent study has released the best places - outside of the UK - to live if you fancy relocating.

Conducted by HSBC Expat, the research ranked the top 10 countries to live and work in 2021, reports The Express.

The study, which surveyed over 20,000 expats, also revealed that the majority believed their lives would be better abroad.

The 14th annual Expat Explorer study found that locations where a sense of stability has been maintained ranked highly.

The majority of expats based in Australia, Switzerland, and Jersey (in the Channel Islands) would recommend their location as a ‘stable’ place to live in the next 12 months.

Moreover, seven in 10 expats admitted their quality of life is better abroad than at home.

Some 80 per cent of expats in their host country said they will stay for at least one more year.

Mediterranean countries ranked among the top places to move to for a better quality of life. Spain ranked highest, followed by Cyprus and Portugal in terms of quality of life.

The findings also showed that expats have experienced improved physical and mental wellbeing since moving abroad.

The best locations for overall wellbeing are Australia and Spain. Switzerland and New Zealand came after in terms of mental and physical wellbeing.

Regarding the places where expats feel most fulfilled, with 51 percent, Indonesia and UAE ranked highest.

India followed with 49 percent and Taiwan with 48 percent.
