Best Christmas events in and around Liverpool you can book now for 2021

Christmas 2021 will be here before we know it and tickets are already selling fast for festive events in and around Liverpool.

After Christmas didn't turn out quite like we expected it to last year, many people are keen to book Christmas events sooner rather than later this time round.

Liverpool's festive calendar is always jam-packed with different experiences and events, and this year looks set to be no different.

Various festive family activities, club nights, and shows have already been announced with more to come.

To get you in the festive spirit, we've rounded up some of the Christmas events across Merseyside and beyond, that you can book tickets for now.

Love Actually in Concert

Everyone's favourite festive romcom is coming to Liverpool's Philharmonic Hall this December. Love Actually is on the venue's festive schedule this year, but with a musical twist.

The much-loved film will be shown a huge projector at the venue, while a live orchestra performs Craig Armstrong's score throughout. BAFTA winner Craig Armstrong is one of the UK's most recognised film. composers.

Previous reviews of the concert have called it 'a wonderfully magic night that got everyone in the Christmas spirit'.

Luminate Light Trail is coming to Southport this Christmas (Liverpool Echo)

Luminate Light Trail

This year's festive period will see Southport's Victoria Park taken over by a magical light trail. The Luminate light trail is the perfect festive family event.

The stunning trail is set out across the park, with ambient music accompanying it. Suitable for all the family, it includes 3D projections, light tunnels, a wishing tree and interactive shadow play.

The enchanting trail is 1.2km long, and takes between 60-90 minutes to complete. Visitors can also warm up by the trail's fire pit, where marshmallows can be purchased to toast.

Costa Del Scouse: Xmas Special

Following the success of the summer edition, Camp & Furnace's 'Costa Del Scouse' event will be making a return this Christmas for a festive special.

Hosted by Pete Price, 'Costa Del Scouse: Xmas Special' promises to 'bring Benidorm back this Winter'. The event features a live beach band, Red Lion pub, variety show, and more.

Expect Christmas surprises, festive food, and many Christmas sing-a-longs at one of Liverpool's top venues. Early bird tickets are on sale now. Find out more here.

Outside The Igloo

Throughout December, Liverpool's Unity Theatre will be hosting 'Outside The Igloo', an interactive adventure for all the family.

The festive show is based on a group of penguins, Pixel, Crash, and Click whose power has gone out in their igloo, leaving them unable to play games. For the first time in weeks, the penguins are forced to step out of their igloo, leading them onto a magic adventure.

The audience plays a huge role in the performance, as they help the penguins' on their journey. Organisers promise a show which will 'take any young explorer on an incredible adventure they will never forget'.

The Lanterns at Chester Zoo

The Lanterns will be returning to Chester Zoo this Christmas (Chester Zoo)

Chester Zoo is welcoming back its Christmas Lanterns this year. The popular event sees the zoo transformed into the ultimate festive wonderland, featuring a host of colourful animal lanterns.

The Lanterns are accompanied by various costumed characters, as well as a visit from Father Christmas. The journey takes around one hour to complete, with a selection of festive treats available along the way.

The Lanterns has become a popular tradition at the zoo over recent years, and 2021's event marks ten years of the festive event.

Ultimate Christmas Experience

Otterspool Adventure is set to be transformed into a festive wonderland again this Christmas. The popular event is to be held across five weekends starting at the end of November.

This year's Ultimate Christmas Experience includes an ice rink, Pantomime, and Santa's Grotto. Visitors can take part in activities include Make-a-Bear workshops, breakfast with Santa, and Gingerbread decorating with Mrs Claus. Jack & The Beanstalk has been revealed as this year's Pantomime performance.

There is two ticket types available to purchase, a standard experience ticket and an ultimate experience ticket. Both allow visitors access to all attractions, apart from breakfast with Santa which is only included in the ultimate ticket.

The Snowman Tour

The Snowman Tour is coming to Liverpool Cathedral (Marian Blaikley)

Liverpool Cathedral will be welcoming The Snowman Tour this December. The much-loved festive film will be brought to life on the big screen, accompanied by a live orchestra.

This year's show also features a second animation, 'We're Going On a Bear Hunt', which tells the story of siblings and their dog as they go on an adventure to find a bear.

The experience is brought to the stage by Carrot Productions, and features musicians from the UK's top orchestras.

Liberte Winter Village

One of Liverpool's best rooftop bars, Liberte, has announced its Winter Village will be returning later this year for the festive period. The experience offers the perfect Christmas evening out, with festive food and drinks and an unbeatable rooftop view.

The magical rooftop village features 16 cosy lodges which visitors can book for up to six people, complete with heating and waitress service. Festive food stalls are situated throughout the venue, as well as a winter-themed drinks menu and extensive hot chocolate menu.

This year will also see the introduction of 'The Shack' VIP lodge, which can be booked out for an entire evening complete with food and drinks for up to 30 guests. The VIP experience features a private bar and own music system.

Bookings are required to access the lodges. Liberte's Winter Village is expected to open at the end of October, and will be open throughout November and December. To find out more here.

The Return of The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Show, Live!

Fans of RuPaul's Drag Race will be happy to hear that iconic queens Jinkx Monsoon and BenDeLaCreme are bringing their show to Liverpool this Christmas.

The 'Queens of Christmas' are back this year with a full tour, and are stopping of at Liverpool's Playhouse Theatre. The popular show is the perfect way to get your in the festive spirit, as the queens takeover the stage in a festive extravaganza.

Jinkx and BenDeLaCreme will be in Liverpool for one night only, and tickets are on sale now. For more information, click here.

Bingo Lingo - Christmas Special

Bingo Lingo will be hosting a one-off Christmas special this December (Bingo Lingo)

Having announced its residency at Camp & Furnace earlier this year with a string of shows already taken place and more to come, Bingo Lingo will be hosting a Christmas Special this December.

Seen as a reinvention of the traditional Bingo game, Bingo Lingo offers a night to remember. The interactive Bingo night offers all the madness of a large-scale festival, complete with a variety of impressive prizes throughout.
