Best celebrity April Fools' pranks from Rylan taking over Alexa to Ant and Dec's currency

Did you spot these sneaky celebrity April Fools' Day pranks?

A host of famous faces have been getting in the spirit of April 1 by sharing fake social media posts to trick their followers.

Geordie duo Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly tried to trick their fans into believing they'd launched their very own crypto currency called Toon Coin.

They claimed to have first come up with the idea in the 1990s, and thanked someone called Safri Pollo - an anagram of April Fool - for helping them make it possible.

Alongside a snap of Dec holding a pile of Toon Coin in his hand and Ant biting one of them, they wrote: "Big news! We have joined the crypto revolution and launched Toon Coin

"This project has been in the works for a while having started it all the way back in the early 90s! Huge thanks to Safri Pollo for making it possible. Link in our bio for more info…"

They also shared a closer look at the design of the coin, which featured the iconic Tyne Bridge on the back, and quotes from each of them.

Ant said: "We actually developed Toon Coin back in the early 90s as a way of simplifying PJ and Duncan gig ticket sales. We were on the brink of something then but it had to take a back seat when we released our Psyche album."

Dec added: "It's not commonly known, but bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto was actually a boom operator on Byker Grove back in the day! Ant and I often discussed Toon Coin during breaks from filming, and 18 years later bitcoin appears... coincidence?"

One of their followers jokingly asked: "Do Greggs accept the toon coin ??"

And another suggested: "I know this is #aprilfools but I feel like we could do with Toon Coins in our lives".

Over on Good Morning Britain, it was weather presenter Laura Tobin who delivered the laughs during a chat with Matthew Pottage, curator at RHS Garden Wisley.

He proudly showed Laura a "special plant" that had been achieved through a five-year breeding process.

He told her the plant was "unique" and that he was going to name it after Laura.

But disaster struck when he handed the potted plant to Laura so she could get a closer look and it slipped from her grip, smashing to pieces all over the ground.

Matthew looked outraged and seemed to almost swear as he stormed off camera.

One viewer replied to a tweet of the clip: "I didn't get where I am today by not being able to spot a prank when I see one. Just like that William Smith chap the other night."

And another admitted: "Well April fool didn’t cross my mind at first because I had forgotten what day it was. I was too busy doing the school morning ritual in between watching telly. I fell for it and was open mouthed in front of my tv feeling sorry for poor Laura. 5 minutes later the penny dropped"

"I'm slow today. I didn't realise it was a Fools joke until I came to this tweet," another said.

Rita Simons tried to prank her fans into thinking she was returning to EastEnders despite her character Roxy Mitchell being killed off in 2017.

People wish this was real! (Twitter)

She tweeted a promotional image of herself and on-screen sister Ronnie, who was played by Samantha Womack, saying: "Guess who's back?"

"Back from the dead," one fan pointed out.

Many wished it was true, with one replying: "That would make 2022 slightly more bearable! Two of @EastEnders best characters, when EE had iconic characters in the show! We miss Ronnie & Roxie."

TV presenter Rylan Clark teamed up with Amazon Alexa for his fun prank, pretending everyone he was the device's new voice.

He shared a video of himself saying "good morning" to Alexa, which then replied: "Morning, gorgeous! It's Rylan, and guess what: I am here to say I'm the hot new voice of Alexa today. On yes, I'm in the cloud, I'm feeling proud, better turn it up 'cause I'm gonna get loud."

After your own Alexa has said this, the real voice interrupts to say: "April Fool, I'll be back tomorrow."

Rylan had shared a video on Instagram, telling his fans: "INTRODUCING #RYLEXA !!! CANT BELIEVE I’m the the voice of #Alexa ! Been wanting the job for ages.

"You can ask me so many things, “morning”, “how are you” “I love you” whatever u want! So happy to bring #Rylexa to you all! X @amazonuk #ad"

"So wanted to believe this," another said.

Olympic diver Tom Daley joked he was starting up a side hustle selling knitted willy warmers after snaps of him knitting in the Olympic stands went viral.

Sharing a string of snaps to demonstrate all the different ways the knitted pouches can be used and worn, he wrote: "So excited to launch the official #MadeWithLoveWillyWarmer. With fuel prices on the up, this’ll keep your (or a loved one’s) pecker perky and piping hot all year round.

"It’s also completely universal! Here’s five ways to wear your willy warmer, winter and beyond…

"As a naughty necklace

One of his fans joked: "The headband for sure I know a few people that would suit!"

"A Willy good idea," another quipped.

Model Kelly Brook jokingly promoted SlimFast's brand new flavour - Brussel Sprouts!

Posing up with a tin of the power, she wrote: "You heard it here first….NEW @SlimFastUK Brussel Sprout flavour! As with all @SlimFastUK shakes, it has 23 vitamins and minerals, high protein and no added sugar. Available from today - just in time for Christmas! #ItMightSurpriseYou @SlimFastUK #worksforme #AD"

"Yeah... Err no," another laughed.
