We may be less than a 100 days away from Christmas, but with every passing day, another major event is inching closer.
Black Friday has morphed into the biggest occasion in the UK’s shopping calendar. The weekend, an American import, has long travelled across the Atlantic in the last decade or so, with bargain-hungry Brits primed to scoop up the discounts laid on by retailers ahead of the festive shopping period.
It’s widely-acknowledged as the best time of year to bag expensive items at a snip of their usual cost, or stretch your shopping budget to get practical items and coveted luxuries. Most major retailers now have a hat in the ring, including high street favourite Argos.
When is Black Friday 2025?
First things first: when does the sale actually kick off? While the date shifts every year, the easiest way to remember is that Black Friday always falls on the last Friday of November. This year, that date is November 28.
When does Black Friday end?
The sales event isn’t a one-day-only affair. Deals will continue throughout the weekend until we reach Cyber Monday on the other side. Is this traditionally the day the sales will start wrapping up, although you might be able to find a few late deals if you’re really lucky.
Black Friday is considered officially over on December 1 this year.
Why is it called Black Friday?
It sounds a bit morbid, but the truth is the black of Black Friday comes from the traffic fumes that choked American streets when the shopping craze first took off there in the middle of the last century. It’s a name that has stuck, despite becoming a global happening.
What deals can we expect from Argos?
Set your expectations high: Argos is one retailer who always ups the ante come Black Friday. The high street favourite goes big on discounts, cutting prices across a swathe of categories, from home, electricals, furniture, kitchen tools, and even fashion for him, her and kids. If you’re hoping to land a homeware bargain, keep an eye on the Habitat range where you can find design-led pieces for even less come the end of November.
Hungry for a deal now? To whet your appetite, we’ve rounded up the best deals to be found right now at Argos.
