Best Black Friday 2022 deals: Top offers from Ninja, Samsung, Trainline and more

After the August Bank Holiday weekend, it’s a straight run to Christmas and New Year for the next state-sanctioned days off.

With November here, the festive season is knocking - but those in the know are already keeping an eye out for bargains to place under the tree. Luckily Black Friday offers an incredible chance to make your cash stretch further as more and more brands and retailers rush to offer jaw dropping deals ahead of Christmas.

What is Black Friday?

The tradition began in the 60s as American stores laid on huge sales to entice families after the US holiday of Thanksgiving. The term ‘Black’ was inspired by the colour of the traffic-choked streets in Philadelphia, and it’s stuck ever since. In the intervening decades, the phenomenon caught fire across the Atlantic and in the midst of a cost-of-living crisis, the sales timing couldn’t be better. It all kicks of on Friday and ends on Cyber Monday, now both firmly established fixtures in the UK’s shopping calendar.

When is Black Friday this year?

Although the date shifts annually, the biggest shopping event of the year always takes place on the last Friday of November. In 2022, Black Friday will fall on November 25, exactly a month before Christmas. Cyber Monday closes the bonanza: this year, the date to know is November 28.

Mark your diaries, you won’t want to miss it.

How to keep up with the best deals?

Rest assured that as news of deals turn from a trickle to a torrent, ES Best will be your go-to destination for all the bargains Black Friday 2022 has to offer.

As your destination for all-things shopping, the best place to find epic deals will be right here on ES Best. As well as dedicated roundups per stockist and category type (think Fashion, Beauty, Home & Garden, Tech, Kids & Maternity etc) we will also run a live blog to tell you about the hottest deals as they happen.

Which brands hold Black Friday sales?

Almost every brand is likely to make some sort of offering as they angle for a slice of the Black Friday sales pie. Think major department stores like Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Harrods, John Lewis and more as well as all the luxury and high street brands that you can waggle a credit card at.

What products were on sale last year?

Last year saw an avalanche of incredible deals with prices plummeting on everything from Dyson vacuums to diamond jewellery. ASOS held sitewide discounts, while Amazon also got in on the action with plenty of red hot prices across its site. Even Ryanair jumped aboard: the budget airline offered a two-for-one deal on selected flights, showing that sales fever is going beyond products.

What types of deals can we expect this year?

With the cost-of-living crisis affecting millions of homes across the country, we’re certain retailers will respond with better offers than ever before to help your money go further this year. And, as well as dramatically reduced RRPs, there’s likely to be offers like gift cards and extra accessories thrown into the mix.

Will Cyber Monday be happening this year?

It’s always been traditional to close the sales weekend on Cyber Monday, when discounted tech products tend to hog the limelight. There’s no indication that this year will be any different. If you’ve been patiently waiting all year for the price to drop on a new TV, tablet, mobile phone or practical purchases like washing machines, Cyber Monday on November 28 is your chance to pounce.

If you’re hoping to scoop a bargain for Christmas, or for upcoming birthdays and other special events, Black Friday is the shopping event of the year that you can’t afford to miss.

What deals are live now?

Over the years, more and more retailers have jumped the official firing gun with discounts, sales and promotions taking place well ahead of the event. Grey Friday is well and truly underwar, with prices plummeting across the board, from mattresses to toys and tech.
