Best Birdo Builds in Megabonk – Stats, AC-130, Beginner, & DPS

Birdo might just be the most fragile character in Megabonk right now. A few hits, even from the weakest enemies, will kill you. The best way to play with Birdo is to keep your distance from enemies and stay in the air as much as possible. See the Birdo builds listed below to get the best out of this kiting character.

Best Birdo Builds in Megabonk

The best Birdo builds take full advantage of his “floating” and dial up his damage output to max for a hit-and-fly playstyle. Complete a few runs to get a grip of his float mechanics and see the true potential of Tornado. Try Build 1 if you’re having trouble with Birdo, until you are used to it. After that, try the Birdo builds 2 and 3 for late-game runs.

Build 1 - Beginner Birdo

Birdo is not the most beginner-friendly character in Megabonk, but with this build, he becomes slightly less punishing. The main goal of this build is to buy you enough time so you can understand his movement mechanics and get a feel for Tornado. If you’ve already mastered Birdo’s flight, scroll down for deadlier Birdo builds.

Weapons Tomes Items
Tornado
Lightning Staff
Flamewalker
Aegis
HP/Regen Tome
Damage Tome
Quantity Tome
Cooldown Tome
Oats
Medkit
Time Bracelet
Gym Sauce
Coward’s Cloak
Feathers
Scarf
Turbo Socks
Echo Shard
Demonic Blood
Backpack
Za Warudo

Why It Works: Items like Oats, Medkit, and Demonic Soul, and the HP or the Regen Tome, will increase Birdo’s survivability. After that, the build’s focus shifts to dealing damage.

The Damage, Cooldown, and Quantity Tome will improve all four weapons listed in the Weapons column. Tornado’s low base damage will no longer be a problem when you’re continuously launching multiple Tornados towards enemies. Lightning Staff will make early game scaling quicker, but if you can’t get it within the first couple of minutes, pick up any decent ranged weapon (Revolver, Bone, Slutty Rocket).

Flamewalker adds some passive AoE damage to this build. Make sure you don’t miss out on Size upgrades for Flamewalker and Tornado. Aegis is in there for increased survivability or when you get caught in a swarm.

From the charge shrines, increase Jump Height and Extra Jumps so you can stay in the air for longer and completely master Birdo’s floating mechanics.

Build 2 - DPS Birdo

This build removes the survivability cushion of Build 1 and goes all in on damage to transform Birdo into a hit-and-fly character. You’ll have no room for error if you go for this build.

Weapons Tomes Items
Tornado
Revolver
Lightning Staff
Flamewalker
Damage Tome
Size Tome
Quantity Tome
Cooldown Tome
Gym Sauce
Moldy Cheese
Credit Card (Red)
Beer
Big Bonk
Feathers
Spicy Meatball
Battery
Boss Buster
Brass Knuckles
Beefy Ring
Scarf
Demonic Soul
Dragonfire

Why It Works: Weapons, items, tomes- everything in this build focuses on improving Birdo’s damage output. Tornado projectile will be bigger, quicker, and deadlier. Flamewalker’s circle of flames will be bigger and last longer to target more enemies. Revolver and Lightning Staff will scale quickly with increased projectiles and faster attacks.

Items like Gym Sauce, Scarf, and Credit Card (Red) will add flat damage boost across the board. You can still use the Charge Shrines to increase survivability with stats like Max HP, HP Regen, Armor, Shield, and Lifesteal. It won’t be as effective as using the HP/Regen Tome, but something’s better than nothing.

That said, if you can position yourself right and further boost Birdo’s jump and float by picking Extra Jumps and Jump Height from the Charge Shrines, you won’t have to worry about getting hit.

Build 3 - Birdo AC-130

As the name suggests, this build transforms Birdo into a Lockheed AC-130. You’ll be dropping plenty of explosive projectiles all over the map and watch as every enemy melts.

Weapons Tomes Items
Tornado
Slutty Rocket
Flamewalker
Mines
XP Tome
Quantity Tome
Cooldown Tome
Size Tome
Wrench
Feathers
Slutty Cannon
Demonic Soul
Demonic Blood
Gym Sauce
Moldy Cheese
Time Bracelet
Joe’s Dagger
Backpack
Anvil

Why It Works: The core of this build is to increase damage and projectile count to as high as possible, and since there’s no ceiling to the Damage and Quantity Tome, this build also has no ceiling.

With every upgrade, your damage output will increase in one way or another. Increasing jump height is crucial to this build because you want to keep floating and dropping projectiles down. Mines and Slutty Rocket will do most of the heavy-lifting while Tornado and Flamewalker play more of a supporting role.

All the Items listed above are crucial to get this build working as intended. Moldy Cheese will make sure bosses are easier to kill. Wrench will help you charge shrines faster, reducing your time on the ground. Slutty Cannon will be essentially a fifth weapon. Anvil will speed up the late-game scaling with extra weapon upgrades every time you level up.

Birdo Starter Weapon and Passive

Birdo’s starter weapon is the Tornado, a projectile-based weapon that damages enemies and knocks them back. It scales with Size, Projectile Count, Damage, and Knockback. To unlock the Tornado, you have to charge 5 Charge Shrines on the Desert during a Sandstorm.

Strengths Weaknesses Passive
Excellent mobility: Quick movement and float mechanics.
Hit-n-Run playstyle: Great character for killing enemies while keeping your distance.
Map scaling: Traverse through the whole map faster than other characters.
Difficult to control: Floating mechanics are hard to control.
Position-dependent: Birdo’s effectiveness is directly related to positioning.
Hold “Jump” to float in the air.
