Best beach in the UK named and 'has everything' for a day out in the hot weather

The clocks have gone forward, the weather's getting sunnier and temperatures are climbing up - so naturally, we're getting excited for days out in the sunshine.

Luckily, HomeToGo has provided plenty of inspiration as it unveiled the UK's best 20 beaches for 2022, looking at factors such as water cleanliness, value for money and visitors' ratings.

Llandang Beach in Gwynedd, Wales, took the top spot in the new rankings, proving the most popular with visitors. In fact, people have left Tripadvisor reviews praising it for having 'everything', being dog-friendly, and offering up some gorgeous views.

One beachgoer wrote: "This beach has everything! Rock pools to explore, shallow waters and pools safe for children, a cafe and toilets. Easily accessible from the car park. Also has a chapel that was once buried in the sand".

Another added that it was a "very clean beach" with a mix of sand and pebbles, and that its facilities such as a car park, toilets and cafe made it "ideal for a family day out". They added: "The beach is dog friendly, as you go on to it turn right if you have a dog left if not, great idea".

Overall, Llandanwg Beach scored a visitor rating of 4.1 out of 5 in the rankings, not to mention it was also revealed to have excellent water quality.

With a median cost of £126.75 for an overnight stay it wasn't the cheapest of the beaches to visit, but nor was it amongst the most expensive - but for those after somewhere away from the peak summer crowds, it can be a great compromise.

It wasn't just Llandanwg that impressed.

Whitesands Beach in Pembrokeshire is another sandy shore well worth having on your staycation radar, with its Blue Flag status meaning that it's ideal for swimmers and surfers. Then there are the breathtaking clifftop walks in the area, the friendly locals and plethora of cafes and bars for a post-walk drink or snack.

The third podium spot went to Sandbanks Beach in Dorset, right by Poole harbour. This is one of the beaches that has already long been a firm favourite with holidaymakers thanks to the handy facilities, swim-friendly waters and nearby hotels, so it's not surprising to see it feature in HomeToGo's rankings.
