Most of the Megabonk characters that regularly feature on the leaderboard are slow starters, and the Bandit is no different. But, if you can get the right Items and pick the best Tomes early on, you can unleash the Bandit’s true scaling potential. This guide has three best Bandit builds that you can try, depending on the Items you get from the first few chests and Moai interactions.
Best Bandit Megabonk Builds
All three of the builds below focus on different playstyles. To scale off of Dexecutioner’s “Execute” passive, go for Build 1. Build 2 is a game-breaking build, but it can be hard to recreate because of the Legendary items required. You can also go the Crit route using Build 3 for a slightly different but highly effective experience.
Build 1 - The Executioner
The main goal of this build is to use the Dexecutioner’s execute passive to insta-kill bosses while the other weapons carry you through early and mid-game mobs.
Weapons | Tomes | Items |
---|---|---|
Dexecutioner Aura Revolver Flamewalker |
XP Tome Cooldown Tome Quantity Tome Size Tome |
Joe’s Dagger Backpack Time Bracelet Unstable Transfusion Battery Turbo Socks |
Why It Works: XP Tome is a priority as it speeds up the otherwise slow progress of Bandit. Along with progress, it’ll also directly fuel Bandit’s passive, increasing the Dexecutioner’s attack speed so you have a higher chance of executing enemies.
The Cooldown Tome, Quantity Tome, and Size Tome will increase the size of the projectiles, number of projectiles, and multiply the attack speed, which results in more executions. Aura, scaling with Size and Cooldown, will add the melee attack and defense combo, while Katana and Revolver help tackle mobs and swarms with their multiple projectiles.
For the late run mobs and final bosses, Dexecutiuoner and Revolver will do most of the work. Joe’s Dagger will increase your execution chances and scale damage as well. Pick up some Damage boosting items along the way.

Build 2 - Bandit’s World Record Build
As the name suggests, this is the world record Bandit build used by Martyr_Dom. See the weapons, tomes, and items that scaled Bandit into a killing machine.
Weapons | Tomes | Items |
---|---|---|
Dexecutioner Katana Blackhole Flamewalker/Aura |
Size Tome XP Tome Luck Tome Cursed Tome |
Joe’s Dagger Za Wardo Sucky Magnet Moldy Cheese Dragonfire Giant Fork Overpowered Lamp Other damage and HP boosting items like Oats, Medkit, Gym Sauce, and more. |
Why It Works: The holy trinity of Megabonk Tomes speeds up scaling while the Size Tome boosts Dexecutioner and Blackhole. With quick level-ups and better upgrades (thanks to the Luck Tome), you won’t need Damage, Quantity, or Cooldown Tomes to get the best out of your weapons.
Focus on Katana or Aura early because Dexecutioner is too slow, and hold off on the Cursed Tome until 2 or 3 weapons are doing decent DPS. After a few Size Tome upgrades, Black Hole and Dexecutioner will start doing the heavy lifting as Bandit’s attack speed passive also reaches a decent number.
Overpowered Lamp and Joe’s Dagger are two cornerstones of this build. If you can’t get them before the second swarm hits, it’s better to pivot to a different build or restart.
Build 3 - Crit Bandit
A crit build on Bandit might sound weird, but with his attack speed scaling, it does work well if you can equip the right crit-based items and weapons on him.
Weapons | Tomes | Items |
---|---|---|
Dexecutioner Katana Dice Revolver |
Precision Tome Damage Tome Quantity Tome XP Tome |
Forbidden Juice Demonic Blade Moldy Cheese Gym Sauce Battery Backpack Grandma’s Secret Tonic Giant Fork |
Why It Works: If you see Giant Fork, Forbidden Juice, Revolver, or Katana early, give this build a go, and you won’t be disappointed. With Katana, Dice, and Revolver all scaling with the Precision, Damage, and Quantity Tome, you’ll be a crit machine before you even spawn the first boss. XP Tome will make sure you’re leveling up quickly, and Bandit’s attack speed passive will take care of the rest.
No Aura or Aegis means you must keep your distance or get stats like Armor or Shield from the Charge Shrines. You can also use HP/HP Regen items to improve his survivability. If you don’t see these defensive stats and items, go for agility. Increases movement and jumps will synergize with Bandit’s extra jump height and pickup range.
Bandit Starter Weapon and Passive

Bandit’s starter weapon is the Dexecutioner. You’ll have to kill 12,500 enemies with the Sword to unlock it. It shoots a piercing projectile that can hit multiple enemies, and has a small chance of executing an enemy as well.
Strengths | Weaknesses | Passive |
---|---|---|
Late-game scaling: Bandit's passive massively improves his attack output with every level up. Good passive: Attack speed increases passively. You won’t have to get the Cooldown Tome. Evasion: Starts with 10% evasion. |
Weak and slow start: Dexecutioner is punishing as a starter weapon. RNG-Reliant: If you can’t get the right items early, the first swarm will kill you. |
Gain +1% Attack Speed per level up. |
Megabonk Bandit FAQs
To unlock Bandit, you need to purchase the Dexecutioner weapon, which unlocks after you kill 12,500 enemies using the Sword. You also have to find the Bandit Statue in the Desert, which can spawn him as a stage boss. Defeat him to unlock Bandit in Megabonk.
Dexecutioner is a melee weapon that scales with size, projectile quantity, and attack speed. Use the Size Tome, Quantity Tome, and Cooldown Tome to turn Dexecutioner from a single-hit weapon to a massive AoE laser beam.
Bandit’s meta items are Joe’s Dagger, Overpowered Lamp, Backpack, Anvil, Battery, Gym Sauce, and Time Bracelet. These items synergize with every type of Bandit build by improving execute chances, on-hit procs, projectile count, base damage, and attack speed.
