Bandit is a great character for deep runs in Megabonk thanks to his starter weapon, the Dexecutioner. Making a good build for the Bandit is about leveraging Size, Projectile Count, and Crit Chance, which are the three stats that affect the Dexecutioner.
Here's the best Bandit build you can use in Megabonk, along with some alternative Weapons and Tomes picks if you can't find it all in a single run.
Best Weapons, Tomes, and Items for Bandit
Type | Best | Good |
---|---|---|
Weapons | Dexecutioner (Starter) Katana Dice Flamewalker |
Aegis Black Hole Aura Lightning Staff |
Tomes | XP Tome Damage Tome Size Tome Quantity Tome |
Cursed Tome Luck Tome Bloody Tome Precision Tome |
Items | Joe's Dagger Backpack Time Bracelet Gym Sauce |
Credit Card (Green) Moldy Cheese |
The best weapons to use on Bandit are Katana, Dice, and Flamewalker. Katana is the only one on the list I'd never replace because it scales perfectly with Dexecutioner's Size and Crit stats, so it's a must-pick. Dice is a decent projectile that also works well with Critical stats, while Flamewalker is a great match for a Size-focused build. Aegis and Aura can be picked if you want better defenses, while Lightning Staff can help with area damage due to projectile bounce, and Black Hole scales well with Size too.
When picking Tomes, prioritize XP, Size, and Quantity Tomes. XP is essential because Bandit's attack speed increases with his level, while Size lets Dexecutioner hit more enemies at once, thus increasing your odds of landing an execution. Quantity Tome to increase the number of hits of Dexecutioner can also be useful. Cursed and Luck tomes are good choices for better scaling in Tier 2 and 3 runs, while Bloody Tome is great if you're not confident about regenerating health with items and other sources.
Precision Tome is a good pick if you're also using crit-based weapons like Katana and Dice. While it increases the chance of Dexecutioner dealing critical damage, it doesn't improve the odds of landing an Execution. There's no way today in Megabonk to increase the chances of Dexecutioner's Execution, not even by increasing Luck.
Avoid the Cooldown Tome. Because Bandit's passive gives him more Attack Speed with every level, the Cooldown Tome quickly loses value. If you use an XP Tome instead, you're leveling up more often and getting Attack Speed in exchange.
In the Items department, the best item you can get for Bandit is Joe's Dagger. It adds a one-percent Execution chance on top of Dexecutioner's natural odds, so you'll be executing more enemies, more often with it. Aside from it, items that increase XP gain, like the Time Bracelet, or that increase Quantity, like the Backpack, are great choices for duplication.

How to unlock the Bandit

You unlock the Bandit by defeating him in the first Desert stage. To spawn the Bandit, you need to find the Bandit statue and interact with it, which will spawn the character as a mini boss. Make sure you have a solid build before you start the fight and that you're not triggering any other mini-boss fights at the same time.
Once you kill the Bandit, you also need to buy the Dexecutioner in the Unlocks page. To do so, you have to first kill 12,500 enemies with the Sword, which is easier to do if you play a few runs with Sir Oofie in the Forest.
After you complete these two requirements, you can buy Bandit from the Unlocks menu with Silver.
