Thousands of Brits are set to tackle DIY projects over the August Bank Holiday, taking full advantage of an extra day off work.

Whether you're repainting your living room or sprucing up your garden, there are plenty of handy savings on tools and products that will help you get the job done in no time.

Major hardware retailers are slashing the price on tools, accessories and decor ahead of the long weekend, making now an great time to start those household jobs you have been putting off all sunmmer.

From cut prices paints and wallpaper to money off power tools, we have rounded up some of the biggest and best discounts from Wickes, Argos, B&Q, Dunelm and more below.

The popular home store has slashed the price of hundreds of items, with prices starting from £10 and including outdoor accessories, stylish soft furnishings and plenty of practical kitchenware items.

Shoppers can pick up savings in store and online at dunelm.com.

£15 spend at B&Q

If you know you're planning to shop at B&Q you may want to take full advantage of this exclusive offer where you can get a free £15 spend when you spend £15 or more.

Online department store Very has launched a special spend and save discount code for shoppers buying furniture items over the bank holiday.

Customers can save 20% off home, furniture and garden items using the AUGUST20 code at checkout on very.co.uk - but will need to spend £149 or more to qualify.

The deal is running over the weekend and ends at 9am on 29 August, but Swoon, Keter and spa items are excluded from the promotion.

George at Asda home sale

George at Asda has slashed the price of hundreds of household items, ranging from cookware to vacuum cleaners, so shoppers can replace any essentials for less over the long weekend.

The deals are available to browse in stores nationwide and online at direct.asda.com, with discounted items priced from £1.30.

Top buys include half price Silentnight pillows and duvets and big savings on small kitchen appliances like microwaves and kettles.

10% off Hotpoint and Indesit appliances at Argos

If your old washer has packed up you can save an extra 10% off Hotpoint and Indesit washer dryers.

Shoppers just need to use the WASHER10 discount code at checkout on argos.co.uk to claim the additional discount. The discount is available on top of any other additional savings and is valid online and in-store. But you can't use the promo code with any clearance lines.

The popular retailer has also slashed the price on hundreds of small kitchen appliances too, with up to half price off selected brands.
