When will we see the best Apple Black Friday deals?
Black Friday takes place on 26th November this year. While we expect most Apple Black Friday deals to be revealed closer to the day itself, it's not uncommon for retailers to begin their sales in the days - or weeks - leading up to Black Friday.
This was particularly true last year during the pandemic, when we saw retailers begin their Black Friday sales much earlier than usual.
We'll be updating this guide to bring you all of best deals as they come in, so check back for the latest and best prices.
Is Black Friday the best time for Apple deals?
The good thing about Black Friday is that it takes places not long after Apple's annual event in which it showcases new and upcoming products.
This year, Apple launched its new iPhone 13 which will replace the existing iPhone 12.
It also announced several additional new releases including the iPad Pro, iPad mini 6, iPad 9th generation and Apple Watch Series 7.
What does this all mean? Discounts.
Each time a new generation of anything is announced, we often find retailers scrambling to make space for it by slashing prices on the existing generation of products.
Does Apple have Black Friday sales?
Yes and no. While Apple does take part in Black Friday, it doesn't offer big discounts on its devices. Instead, it usually offers free Apple Store gift cards on selected products:
- £120 with MacBook Pro
- £80 with iPad Pro and iPad Mini
- £40 with iPhone SE, iPhone 11, iPhone XR
- £20 with Apple Watch Series 3
- £20 with AirPods Pro
It's worth noting that the £120 maximum value is less than the £160 we saw in 2019. While we don't yet know what the maximum amount will be this year, you're better off looking for deals elsewhere.
The gift cards can only be used on the Apple Store, and it goes without saying that even £120 won't get you very far considering straps for Apple Watch will set back £49.
Fortunately, third-party retailers like Amazon, Currys PC World and John Lewis have some great deals on Apple products in their Black Friday sales.
Will the iPhone 13 be on sale during Black Friday?
Given the fact that the iPhone 13 was only released in late September, it's highly unlikely that we'll see any discounts on the handset itself.
If past has experience has taught us anything, it's that we're more likely to see some decent discounts on the iPhone 12, including SIM-only, contract and handset-only deals.
What Apple deals did we see last year?
Last year, we saw some pretty hefty discounts on everything from Macbooks to Apple Watches and iPads, with retailers slashing as much to 20% off normal prices:
