There were plenty of numbers put up in Sunday’s matchup between the Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks. But none of them translated into the number that actually mattered—at least for the team that’s now 0-3.
Now, let’s take a look at some of Pro Football Focus’ tallies for the Panthers in the 37-27 loss:
Best of the offense
1. QB Andy Dalton: 80.3
2. WR Adam Thielen: 75.8
3. RB Miles Sanders: 70.8
4. TE Tommy Tremble: 64.2
5. RG Calvin Throckmorton: 63.8
Dalton’s career-high 58 passing attempts gave way to the team’s highest offensive grade of the week. He turned that workload into 361 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
One of those scores found the hands of Thielen—whose 145 receiving yards are currently the fifth-most in a single game for an NFC wideout this season.
Worst of the offense
13. WR Laviska Shenault Jr.: 51.1
14. TE Hayden Hurst: 49.7
15. C Bradley Bozeman: 49.3
16. LT Ikem Ekwonu: 24.9
17. LG Chandler Zavala: 24.3
Zavala allowed 14 pressures and was saddled with a 0.0 pass-blocking grade. That’s . . . um . . . not good.
Ekwonu, who picked up four false starts, and Bozeman combined for eight pressures.

1. DT Derrick Brown: 89.9
2. OLB Brian Burns: 87.3
3. S Vonn Bell: 63.7
4. CB D’Shawn Jamison: 63.6
5. DE DeShawn Williams: 61.6
A more dynamic duo, Brown and Burns teamed up for four pressures apiece. Burns also picked up his third sack of the campaign.

16. DT Nick Thurman: 50.1
17. OLB Amaré Barno: 48.4
18. OLB Justin Houston: 47.0
19. CB Troy Hill: 43.5
20. ILB Kamu Grugier-Hill: 30.6
Grugier-Hill’s first start in place of Shaq Thompson didn’t go too well. He accounted for three missed tackles, the most of the entire unit.
