Best and worst PFF grades from Panthers’ Week 14 loss to Saints

The Carolina Panthers recorded a grand total of zero touchdowns in their 28-6 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday afternoon. But, in a bit of a surprise, a few of their offensive players impressed the film buffs.

Oh, and some didn’t.

Here are the best and worst Pro Football Focus grades from the Week 14 defeat:

Best of the offense

Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

1. LG Cade Mays: 89.9
2. RB Miles Sanders: 84.5
3. RT Taylor Moton: 80.1
4. RB Chuba Hubbard: 69.0
5. C Bradley Bozeman: 66.6

Mays’ 79-snap relief appearance resulted in the highest offensive grade for any Panthers lineman in 2023. He also earned a stellar 90.9 in run blocking and a 60.9 in pass protection.

Sanders registered a season-high of his own with that 84.5 mark, rushing for 74 yards on 10 carries.

Worst of the offense

Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

22. WR Jonathan Mingo: 50.7
23. TE Stephen Sullivan: 50.2
24. RG Nash Jensen: 48.6
25. RB Raheem Blackshear: 43.4
26. TE Tommy Tremble: 39.9

Mingo lands in the bottom after a two-catch, 22-yard outing. He had posted games of 69 yards and 60 yards in the two weeks prior.

Jensen earned the offensive line’s lowest pass-blocking grade with a 35.7.

Best of the defense

Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

1. S Xavier Woods: 83.0
2. OLB Yetur Gross-Matos: 81.6
3. CB Troy Hill: 77.6
4. DT Derrick Brown: 76.9
5. CB Jaycee Horn: 76.4

When it comes to coverage grades, Woods (76.2), Hill (77.5) and Horn (74.9) were all in the green.

Brown’s presence is no surprise after he chalked up 10 tackles and an interception.

Worst of the offense

Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports

15. LB Kamu Grugier-Hill: 53.0
16. DE Nick Thurman: 49.3
17. DT Shy Tuttle: 35.3
18. S Jeremy Chinn: 35.1
19. DE Chris Wormley: 28.4

Chinn was not as reliable in coverage (29.8). He was charged with three catches, 31 yards and a touchdown over three targets.
