The Black Friday starting gun has fired and one retailer has bought its A-game: Amazon.
Not content with slashing prices in its Prime Day and Prime Early Access Sales earlier this year, the online giant uses Black Friday as another chance to dramatically reduce products to incredible rub-your-eyes prices.
What is Black Friday?
For the uninitiated, Black Friday takes place the day after our American friends mark Thanksgiving. After the holiday, the folks across the pond celebrate by bagging bargains at some of the world’s best-known retailers and labels. It’s an idea that caught on in the UK, and now Black Friday has become a fixture amongst British bargain-hunters. Held just before the official start of the Christmas shopping period, these offers are tough to resist.
When is Black Friday 2022?
This year it will take place on November 25, although Amazon’s Black Friday sales tend to start a little earlier than the actual day, as early as the beginning of November.
When is Cyber Monday 2022?
While Black Friday marks the start of a weekend of sales, Cyber Monday is traditionally the day deals come to a close, with tech discounts taking a starring role. This year Cyber Monday is on November 28.

What were the best deals from Black Friday weekend last year?
Amazon unburdened the price tags of its own tech such as Echo, Kindle and Fire devices - in fact during the Prime Day sale you could pick up a Fire TV stick for as little as £12.99 so here’s hoping the same is true for the November sale. Last year’s Black Friday extravaganza also featured plenty of deals across gaming consoles and bundles, 4K and OLED TVs, white goods and home appliances, food and drink, and leading beauty brands.
What kinds of deals can we expect this year?
With the cost-of-living crisis making daily headlines, we’re anticipating deeper discounts this year. Big brands such as Google, Simba, Fitbit and L’Oreal are likely to offer deep discounts to their best selling products, while air fryers and vacuums will feature attractive rollbacks too.
